I hate math.

The following is apart of a single math problem for Business Stats that i had to solve and it took me over 45 minutes to do with the help of a math tutor...

Its very annoying and i nearly lost my mind or what is left of it....



1. Make a chart of all given information

2. Get your probability percent from the second column we do this by adding them all up and getting a total number of 250. Then we take 250 and divide it by the second column

40 .16
13 .052
5 .02

3. After this we add up all the numbers in the new table’s second column we come up with 1.008 this number is completely worthless and will not be used again in the equation. Why I was forced to find it I will never ******ing know.

4. Next we take the probability percent and times it by the order in which they appear on the chart. For example .08 times 1, .152 times 2 etc

5. Next we add up the new set of numbers we got. This equals 4.64 this number we need for the next step.

6. Now we take 4.64 and subtract it from 1 through 8
1-4.64 2-4.64 3-4.64 4-4.64 5-4.64 6-4.64 7-4.64 8-4.64
3.64 2.64 1.64 .64 .36 1.36 2.36 3.36

7. Now the numbers we got from subtracting we now need to square.
13.24 6.96 2.68 .4096 .1296 1.84 5.56 11.28

8. Now we take these new numbers and times them with the probability numbers we gotten earlier

9. Now since we have completed that we add up the bottom row and it equals 5.53

10. Final step: take the square root of 5.53 and get 2.35 which equal your standard deviation.

All I can say is, sucks to be you. I freakin hated maths. I suppose I still do, except now I only have to deal with it if I'm actually using it, so I guess that's okay.

Honest Opinion: Stats isn't math.

I've seen problems like this and they don't really tech you much and most of the time, it confuses the crap out of you unless the teacher is good at the job.

So yeah... Stats != math;

The thing that confuses me to hell and back is that I have to take a year of math to be able to access a class related to my major. I Dont get that, how does taking a year of gen ed = one major class?

ive never been really fond of math, im more of a science guy... except physics which isnt science at all just some trickery pulled by mathematicians to fool teenagers into a math based science class, ill stick to biology and chemistry

I failed 2 different schools due to math. I plain old SUCH BALLS at math, I just cant do it! I've had 3 private teachers try to teach me math at an appropriate level for me(according to them), and every time it just didnt work.

And the OP? Lol it's just a random wall of numbers to me, I dont even try to look at it. Same as math in school, I dont even try anymore, I've been trying to 16 years and I still don't get math whatsoever.

If you tried to master something for 16 years and havn't taken a SINGLE STEP forward since the bare bare early elementary school basics? I think you'd throw the towel in the ring as well.

Now looking for a MATH FREE computer science class, where the focus is on computers, and not trying to use some uber einstein like advanced equation form to calculate how a computer actually works.

You are not alone sucking at math. And having bad teachers doesnt help.
I had a problem wit ha thing and asked my teacher for help.

He used an entirerly different way of calculating and it didnt help me at all, if any I understood the problem even less now.

I know right, maths teachers are just the worst kind of people. I had a bad one in college who wouldnt help anyone who needed it but focussed on the smarter kids. She told my parents I was just lazy even though I was hitting straight A's in every other subject

Im done with Math for the rest of student career at my current school. Got out with a B so i couldnt be happier. Wasting 3 days a week in the math lab my god I hate numbers.

It really depends on the way teachers tell the story. I know how hard it can be if your teacher is a mess and cannot make you understand anything. But if you try hard you can do it.

I think I'm one of the few who know how to solve a partial differential equation :)
Actually I got the Bachelor's Degree yesterday (woohoo!!) so I don't want to do math for a while...
