Alright, so I found out from Joker that Fox news ran an article about a certain game filled with profanity, badassery, guns, and all around awesomeness. After hearing this, I did some research of my own, finding said article (http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/02/08/bulletstorm-worst-game-kids/) and had a lengthy lul about it.

The funniest thing? So-called psychiatrist Dr. Jerry Weichman said that “Violent video games like Bulletstorm have the potential to send the message that violence and insults with sexual innuendos are the way to handle disputes and problems."

Another psychiatrist they had weigh in on the issue, Carole Lieberman, inputting that “The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games." Rock, Paper, Shotgun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock,_Paper,_Shotgun) analyzed her statements and found that a measly ONE out of EIGHT sources she provided had anything at all to do with the discussed issue.


After reading this and posting it to Facebook, I was alerted to the existence of a video by X-Play's Adam Sessler in a response to Fox News' retardedness. I tracked down the video (http://www.g4tv.com/videos/51275/Sesslers-Soapbox-The-Fox-News-Bulletstorm-Controversy/). I'll let the video speak for itself.

And for further laughs, I was looking around the Bulletstorm (www.bulletstorm.com) site, and found that the developers, People Can Fly (http://www.peoplecanfly.com/), have been keeping a blog about the recent news, the game, and other stuff. The latest of which (http://www.peoplecanfly.com/blog/2011/02/dicktits/) was posted today, responding to statements about the profanity and choice of words used in the game.

Yes ofcourse, havent you heard? Apparently its all the gaming industry's fault and not the parents... Great rolemodels we have now adays huh?
Pushing responsebility away from themselves and then go and be arrogant about it afterwards. Not that all parents is like that but hey, im just saying.

It's the same when they blame music or movies for people's actions. There are rating systems for a reason. If parents don't want their kids to get the game... don't buy it for them. It's kind of simple. And adults should know better than to let a game or any other outside source effect their state of mind...

I always find it funny how people are so deluded they can't realize the reason that they're kids are so messed up isn't because of the games they play or the movies they watch... it's because they aren't active enough in their kids' lives to realize what they're doing. They sit them down in front of the magical picture box with whatever they ask them to buy and let that be their babysitter. Of course they're going to be messed up if they get raised knowing nothing else. But that isn't the Video Game, Music, or Entertainment Industry's fault... it's the parents who let the stuff get to their living room to begin with.

Not to mention people need to realize the gaming industry has changed. It isn't just for children anymore... more and more adults play now, and we need games to hold our interests as well. I would NEVER let my kids play Dead Space or Bulletstorm, but I actually enjoy them both. They don't cause me to go out and beat the crap out of people.... just sayin.

Its natural to disbelieve new things, what you dont understand. Rock music the tv, even trains and cars were the victim for some major disbelief and complains that your brain would be squashed and so one if you rode it.

Soon I hope that games will be accepted into the ranks like tv and certain music got.

Most normal people wont be affected by games but the age system is there for a reason and even if I think some of the rankings are wrong. Like you said I wouldnt let a five year old kid play games like bioshock,dead space and so on.


(And if they are right that games turn you into a mindless lunatic then sad for them cause I would be to busy killing people to notice)

I should let my mum se me play for example bioshock or gears of war......Never mind, if I did that she would probably throw away my xbox and computer in the trash. Then she would go away with the trash dump it in a big metallic coffin lock and throw away the key and then she would dump it in the ocean surround it with great white sharks and sea mines.

I envy you. My mum, and dad can barely turn on the tv and they cant do anything more advanced than to switch channels. Mum even need my help to raise the volume,Shes always switching channels by mistake.
