i got a 360 yesterday an older one from a buddy for 20 bucks plus to games its a little messed up hance the great price well i went to turn it on today and alls it syas is open tray when there is a game in it can someone please help me out here or did i just buy a 20 dollar paper wieght

Make sure it's on it's laying flat, Xbox 360 logo facing up. Now, open the tray and blow compressed air into it to get any dust out. Put game in. If it still doesn't work, try this.

Put game in. Just before it starts spinning, (you'll hear the rev) start knocking on the top. Not slapping, or punching, knocking like you would on the door. Keep knocking until revving stops, and it should let you play the game. May take multiple attempts (don't try past 7 or 8, no point).

If none of that works, I'm sorry to say friend but you just lost $20.
