So this isnt really a help thread, it would have been but I figured it out. Basically what happened was I wet to a friends house with my computer to play on his big screen

So NATURALLY I have to turn the resolution to max and the video effects to max to play the Crysis2 demo right? Im glad you agree.

The problem happened after I returned home and plugged my computer back into my regular size screen. When I started my game up it gave the "signal out of range" error, most likely because the resolution was to high for my screen.

I immediately felt dumb for not anticipating this problem. And I was not sure about how to go about solving the issue. My first attempt was to delete the demo and reinstall it, and that did not (to my surprise) fix the issue. My setting where either saved by steam or tied to my account.

What I should have done right away was try to run it windowed. But at the time I didnt know how to force it to start windowed. I figured it out when I found the properties advanced commands window, you can find it like so:

Had I known about this handy fix I could have saved myself some time. All it took was a quick google search to yield the required list of launch option commands:

Setting Game Launch Options - Performance Issues - Knowledge Base - Steam Support (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1040-JWMT-2947)

I just though by sharing this troubleshooting experience I may be able to save someone else some time in the future, if you are ever considering reinstalling your game to fix such an error.

It's a good trick. I use it to start my CSS in window mode on win7.

The -width parameter also helps control resolution.

I'll +rep you for me and wicked. (Since my powers are so awesome)
