Rant: My stupid school

So Spring break is over I am back here at my university AND.... the internet is disabled in my dorm.... Not any other dorms just mine.... According to the RA I spoke with they disabled it over break and there wont be anyone here till tomorrow to turn it back on, however, we dont know if they will even turn it back on tomorrow. Why would they turn off my dorms internet? Only two dorms were open during break, if that, and mine is the only one with issues? Im starting to believe, meaning I believe fully, that MIC, the tech department, is full of idiots... Hell the guy who manages the network doesnt have a degree in networking or any real experience, he came into my networking class two years ago and he didnt know some of the protocols used to make a infra net, I dont remember the names but I remember them being a pain in the butt to program.


As a reasonable person i honestly dont see the purpose in turning off the internet. If only... 100 people are on campus during break there wouldnt be an issue with system resources, why? all RAs can through all... 2,000ish rooms and unplug everything. What really gets me is that im paying alot of money to go here and I need the internet I have an assignment due tomorrow morning and what happens if my professor emails me in three hours saying there has been additional homework assigned to me? Im kinda screwed in general yes I can come to the library but there are only 30 computers and everyone is in use?
Last thing is this, the wifi connection for my dorm is still online, what the hell man.

He's using WiFi as it's still working :)

I think his wired connection is out. Wired is always better than wireless in terms of reliability (and most of the time, speed).

I was assuming that he wasn't able to use his wireless because he had a desktop without wifi access or something, because otherwise, he still has internet? He says that he wouldn't be able to check if his teachers emailed him about extra homework, so it seemed to me that he didn't have wireless on his computer.

If he DOES have wifi, then it doesn't seem like a big deal if you just want to use it to do homework, though... *shrug* Who knows why they turned the wired connection off; maybe there was a problem over break with your dorm.

My school is beyond cheap. For example, they are so cheap they wont put any antivirus on the computers on any public access system, library, business lab, humanities lab, etc. and only have one program on the systems called "Deep freeze." This program prevents a total system corruption, because of this inability to put antivirus on the system I have gotten a W32 virus on my USB that I transferred over to my computer and my dads computer and even my moms computer...

I dont have wifi No laptop but im trying to get money to get a laptop so I can still be online and be able to get my homework which is sent to us via blackboard a program used by my school allowing instructors to send assignments and what not. Im about to go to MIC and rip them a new one, wont do much good but in the end I Will feel better about the situation.
