View Full Version : Supermoon March 19th.

The moon will be at its closest point to earth in almost 18 years so if you're planning a trip to the moon. Now is the time to do it! Save yourself a few thousand miles of gas.

Supermoon is an astrology term, scientific term is Perigee and it happens once a month but the Perigee this Saturday is special because of the distance, it's closer than it normally would be at any part of the year.

The size difference in the sky won't be huge but I like any astronomical event that I can witness.

Now Eta Carinae needs to explode and give me the light show I deserve.

I remember someone telling me about this, and I lolled at the term "Supermoon" :D
Can't wait for it, gunna get my telescope out :)

Don't think you'll need a telescope to see the moon lol.

I saw it today, not full yet. I hope skies are clear here too.

I know that ;) ha ha. I mean to see the detail on the moon better, get a better look at the surface, it fascinates me!

I will probably be cloudy as hell here. Now its a small snow storm so the sky is white,the air is white, the ground is white and soon everything is white AGAIN!!!

Yes I love this kinda stuff and like reading about it... if anyone wants to know when the next Solar eclipse will happen in the United States it will be on August 21, 2017...

So remember to mark that down on your calendars!!! When you can buy it I guess or just do it on your computer Which will take a couple of clicks to get to 2017..

It's tonight and I see clouds outside....well actually, perigee is happening now but can't see the moon, other side of the earth sees it though. But we have plenty of time, it'll only get a small distance away by tonight.

Saw the moon last night, pretty. It was brighter. Saw moonlight on my hand while in my car. That doesn't happen often (even though I was at a darker part of NYC)

Nice pics. I see it from my window. Definitely a lot bigger than when I took the shots for the lunar eclipse a few months ago.

it was clear here in Ithaca and accompanied me on a rather drunken walk back home to my apartment. It was quite stunning beside my altered state
