Does anyone else find it highly annoying, that people insist on celebrating St.Patrick's Day, when they're not actually Irish? It's a ****ing Irish holiday!
Fair enough, people go out on St.Patrick's Day because the drinks are cheap, that's being clever and at least they don't think they're Irish. But for the most part, people are out thinking and wishing that they are Irish for the day, just simmer the **** down, eh?
I've asked countless English people when St.Georges Day is, to see if they knew the answer. Over half of the twats that I asked didn't even know, and had to ****ing Google it, it's irritating.
It's one thing to be stupid enough to celebrate another country's Saint, but I get the impression that all of these people doing this aren't proud of where they come from.
So my conclusion to this, is that people need to calm the hell down, and stop thinking that they are Irish and have a valid right to "celebrate in honour of Paddy!" When this happens, I will be able to calm the hell down.
It's been happening all day, which has caused me to rant. I've tried to hold back, but I just can't take it any more, and I'm in need of some agreement from you all!
You know what, St. Patrick is probably looking down on all of the Irish and non-Irish anyway and thinking, "I didn't even drink.."
FOOLS. England annoys the **** out of me.

...Really? None of the holidays that are typically celebrated by most people are what they originally are. Do you celebrate any holiday? Because you're probably doing it wrong.
I say chill out :/ St. Nicholas is a Greek saint, pretty much all of the "Christian" holidays are bastardized versions of pagan holidays, and who knows what else has been completely lost and misinterpreted along the way.
If you're going to get so mad about people celebrating it who aren't Irish, then you better re-think any of the holidays you celebrate. It doesn't even effect you... besides, where are you going to draw the line? I have Irish blood, but I wouldn't consider myself Irish, and I don't celebrate it, really... but there's nothing wrong with having a nice time and enjoying a holiday :/

You're not getting my point, either of you. It's the fact that they don't know what date their own Saint's day is. There's no patriotism any more.
Also, posting that image was just ****ing irritating btw. Cheers.

what im understanding from your posts, jay, is that people dont care about the history of the holiday they are celebrating they just care about having a good day. If this is true I agree 100% It doesnt bother me because I dont know the history of the holidays I celebrate with my family, I use too back when I went to church but that was over 15 years ago.
If people want to celebrate holidays I think they should be reminded on the day of the holiday why we have it and what-not.
a Holiday that does annoy me, or attemped holiday, is this "Make 911 a holiday" kids are trying to get another day off from school and that annoys me to no end. They dont care we were attacked or planes hit the WTC they just want another reason to not wake up early. Out of random i picked one of the thousands of groups trying to get this to become a real holiday and this is the tag line "They let children get off on Jewish Holidays, MLK Day, Presidents Day, ext....How about 9/11?"
Im sorry for ranting, Jay kinda reminded me of it :P

You're welcome.
But about patriotism, for me, as long as you serve your country and be willing to do it, it doesnt matter if you don't remember any of those Saint's Days, Independence Days or what ever. Kids these days can't even write, so I forgive their stupidity of what it comes to those "important days"
AND I have to add to this, I'm not saying that Independence isn't important, but Saint's day... There's a ever growing number of people who are atheist + to those who are too lazy to read myths (or are waiting them to be published as a movie)
And I also know that this isn't going anywhere.

I was being ****ing sarcastic.
Also, it's about serving your country!? What!? What in the actual hell are you on about here? We're not talking about Soldiers. I'm talking about general idiots who don't know their own Saint's day, but celebrate another country's Saint's day anyway, even when they don't know the meaning of it. It's not about being atheist either, it's about being so ****ing dumb that they don't know what the hell anything is for in regards to a holiday, they just do it to be a sheep and look cool. Don't start a debate with me when you're chatting ****.
Also, I agree with Joker.
No-one knows what the **** they're celebrating for anyway!

For me, patriotism is about serving your contry. I think that I have missed something in your texts then, but I didn't want to take this even this far. But still to the original subject (this is actually what I was supposed to write anyways at the begining) Let them have their fun, isn't it nice and kinda flattering that everybody wants to be an Irish for a day?

You did miss a big part of my text, because nothing you replied to related to what I was saying to you.
Also, if you didn't want to take it this far, then I suggest you don't post a picture that's going to quite obviously wind me up so much, and then be sarcastic in your response.. that wasn't clever.
The fact is, if they knew about their own Saint's day, it wouldn't bother me and it would be all right I guess. But here's the vital point you missed: The English people I spoke to didn't have a clue about their own patriot, and they weren't very patriotic in general.. but they decided instead to celebrate a different country's patriot just so they could look 'cool'. I'm a very patriotic person, so that is why it annoyed me, and that is the main point that I was trying to get across to you.

I would like to apologise for my rant and my response to all members concerned, as I was having a stinker of a day, and when I'm in a bad mood and I rant, I think I'm right and feel that I need to get my point across. It was wrong for me to take it out on you people but I didn't see that at the time, as when I'm in the midst of raging, I don't have a clue what I'm saying or what reactions it may cause.
I don't even know why I posted a rant in the first place, because I know if I sat back and read that from someone else's position, I would think that I was being a grumpy bastard for no just reason.
So I hope you will accept my apology, and it will never happen again. This is unless of course I get accosted by a leprechaun, but until then I will keep my mouth shut!

Sounds like someone woke up on the wrong side of bed.
About not knowing dates of "patriotic" celebrations I must take the price. I dont know the date of our national day (its either in june or july) and midsummer is somewhere in the summer.
