View Full Version : Crysis 2 Multiplayer Issue..

As the thread says, I'm having a big issue with the Crysis 2 MP. The problem has been consistent since the Crysis 2 demo for the PC.
I bought the game, also for the PC, and I'm having big connection problems, something that isn't apparent in any other game I play. FYI, my NAT type is Open.
The story is, is that I login to the Multiplayer feature, enter my CD key, grab my unlocks (special edition) and I'm in the menu. I search for a game and eventually connect to a server that I've found, after a few minutes of trawling..
I connect to the server, half the time to find that I get booted out right away, reason being that I've lost connection with the Host; the other half of the problem is after I've played about 2 minutes on the server.. to find that I get booted out, logged out and put back to the login screen, stating that there was a problem with my connection.
The frustrating thing is, is that every time the game logs me out and asks me to log back in again, I have to re-enter my CD key. I've had to do this about eight times now, and no prizes for guessing that I've had enough, and didn't bother trying again.
Has anybody else come across this problem for the game, on the PC?
I'm not interested in console problems, it won't help me. PC only please.
Thank you.

FIX:
1. Enter the Multiplayer menu within Crysis 2, then enter your CD-Key when prompted to do so.
2. When you have done this, and you are directed to the Multiplayer menu, exit to the main menu.
3. Click 'Multiplayer' once again, and re-enter your CD-Key if prompted, and this should fix the issue, and save your CD-Key.
This quick fix seems to have solved the general connection issues as well, so it looks like the CD-Key glitch affected the Multiplayer feature on most fronts!

Not to sound like a smartass but have you looked at the Crysis 2 forums and see if anything like this has occurred to others?

Yep!
It's one of those frustrating, endless lists, of the same type of thread, over and over. Threads stating the problem, and responses to that thread, re-stating the problem.
If they haven't got a frigging answer, then what's the ****ing point in replying like a parrot? Urgh!

Replying like a parrot! Replying like a parrot!
That said, I dunno. lol It was doing it to me on the demo, never figured out how to fix it. :/ Really sucks, dude.

Hay man, welcome back from Spain by the way! Hope you had a good time there =)
About your Crysis 2 issue: I believe that if you actually found many threads about connection problems, I'm afraid that you wont be finding a way to fix it until the game devs do =( It sounds like its one of those inevitable bugs that completely trash your gaming experience. These are the highest priority for game devs, and it should not take very long before they release a patch to fix it!
That's my opinion on what it might be, I mean obviously(not to sound elitist of course!)since your other games, if I understand correctly, work as they should, then the problem MUST lie with the Crysis 2 servers!
If I were you, I'd just wait it out and try every now and then, if it doesnt work once it normally doesnt work the 2nd time around either. My call is to spare yourself the bulging bloodveines and angry german kid moments and just put it away MP wise for now until the game dev releases a bug fix!
BUT I may be wrong here, I dont have much experience with Crytek, actually I havnt played a single one of their games, yet, maybe it's time. Know of any low performance games they made that I could give a shot actually?

Cheers mate.
Joker messaged me in regards to my MP issue. There is a temporary fix, just to go around the problem until it's been patched, but I haven't tried it yet. Gunna go on and test the method, to see if it works for me. If not though, as you say, I will have to wait until the devs release a new patch for the game. EA have come out and said that there will be a patch for the game, which is meant to fix the MP issues, but we shall see..
It's definitely not a problem my end though, as I can't think of any reasons why it should be!
P.S. Crytek have only made the Crysis games, so far, to my knowledge. So needless to say, all three Crysis titles need a good gaming PC to get the visual enjoyment out of it :P

Crysis isnt the first one Jay. I think ive mentioned that Far Cry was Crytek's first game.
(Havent you ever wondered why Crysis gfx engine was called Cryengine 2? :) )
Ubisoft however took over Far Cry after the expansions for it, and made Far Cry 2. :)
Far Cry Gameplay. It was great graphics when it was released in 2004

Oh yeah! :D
I completely forgot, as I don't regard Far Cry as being related to Crytek any more.
I guess I'll give Far Cry a shot then =P Ive actually heard about that, but not that much.

Its a great game and even if the graphics are a bit old its still a beautiful and a great game.
I think I'll try it =) And please note that as soon as I get Game reviewer in a week or so, all games I have played, play, and will be playing will be reviewed as I feel I know enough about them =)

Fixed the issue yesterday :)
Thanks to Jokersvirus for directing me to a fix via pm.
Just in case anyone else has the same problem as I have had, here's the fix below:

Simply fantastic. It reminds me of Call of Duty 4, with it being so simple, it's fun!
You have a basic unlock system, in regards to weapons and perks, to the point where it isn't over-kill, which is good! The ranking system is great, with added bonuses as you rank up, such as a boost to your general nano suit powers.
The game types are awesome, varying from Team Deathmatch sessions, to Search & Destroy and Territory style objectives.
The maps are well-made, it offers fluid and tactical gameplay, with a near consistent balance all the way through.
Also, the visuals are stunning. I don't know about consoles, but on the PC, if you can put the graphics up to the maximum level, it looks epic. One of the best looking games out there at the moment, by far.
It's really no wonder why it was the winner of three E3 awards in 2010; Crysis 2 was named the Best Shooter of E3, the Best Graphics of E3, and the overall Best Game of E3.

After I had that work-around fix pointed out to me, the game seems to be stable now :)
I have had no connection problems all afternoon, and the matchmaking system, when you can't be bothered to trawl through the server list, seems pretty reliable. It always manages to put me in a good game with a good ping.
