What an Accident!

Well last nite at around 11:30 PM here in New York right in front of my house, a black mercedes crashed. He blew off a big mailbox that takes mail of about 6 houses with aboug 18 total families and blew it about 50 feet from the scene. Part of the Mail box blew off and hit part of my Mom's front yard garden and wrecked some flowers. Of course, my mom got really mad after that.

He crashed into the big light pole and broke the light pole itself, it's bent and the top light and glass broke off and fell. His car is totalled of course. My dad called 911 and they were asking too many questions and he got mad. He crashed into a big wall near our neighbors house. It got dark around there after that.

The guy got out of his car looked around then went back into the car and played dead for some stupid reason. I say because he heard the cops coming and of course, he wanted to claim insurance money. My dad laughed for that since nothing seemed to be wrong with him. Just he hit his head hard in the AIRBAG.

The ambulance took him away, the cops cleaned up all the glass and wreckage, and 18 familes have no mailboxes ;(

Cops think he was drunk but of course, the public won't know much about that cuz they wont release information like that. I tried to take pictures with my cell phone but because of the blown street light, it was too dark to get anything. And of course my luck, i couldnt find my digital camera. But it wasnt something horrible, the street was just darker.

woah i would never have expected anything like that to happen :p. Well defiantly not in the UK anyway lol. But its america and i guess anything car related can happen. I thought it was really funny when you said he decided to play dead in the car XD.

Sorry about the mail box flying off into the distance. So how are you and the other 17 families going to get mail now :/. I guess you have to wait till the government or something replaces it.. will prolly take days or weeks knowing them...

I feel sorry for the poor guys car also :p

i saw half the thing lol, when he hit the mailbox he made a big bang and i looked out the window and he crashed into the light pole, his hind right tire flew out and rolled down the hill lol, one of the cops rolled it back up and put it in the car

im assuming the mailman will just have to walk a little extra and leave the mail at the door i guess, they say new mailboxes will be up by next week

rofl i cant believe they rolled the tire back up the hill and put it on the car :p. I would just confiscate it or something. I guess i feel abit sorry for the mail man but oh well :p.

How lucky of u to actually catch a glimpse of the wreckage while it was still happening XD.

i was shocked, i was thinking "stop before you hit our house" lol - well he wouldnt have hit our house since there is a long stair way :D well i guess i was lucky, i was working on my laptop from the sofa thats right by the window, all i had to do was turn my head

me and 10 other people lol, nobody wants to see him get rich for tearing down our mailboxes :mad1: we'll never know for sure if he was drunk - cops wont tell us anything lol - the street is cleared now, they actually straightened out the light pole somehow, the top bendy part where the light comes out is gone tho but the pole is fairly straight, dont know when they did that

Dont worry about your big silver mailbox since another is on the way!!! although i dunno if it will be silver and i bet it will somehow seem different and annoy you lol. Then you can always say "It just isnt the same...."

i'll bet there was more than 10 people that said that - there like 100 people on the streets, people came from all over for some reason and TWO firetrucks ready to hose down the car if it caught on fire or exploded, of course if it exploded i wouldnt be here, i was standing right next to the car

i think they may have brought 2 firetrucks because it may have set something else on fire also. Cause i mean comon 1 firetruck is enough to put out 1 car :P.

Also when you say for some reason people came from all over... well i would come too if i was near enough cause of the excitement and the BIG BANG :p

really big bang, i would have gone deaf along with my dad, my mom and sis were watching from the steps like 30 feet away lol, well here, 2 firetrucks always come whether you need it or not and when you call 911 - they call up the paramedics, fire, and police departments at the same time

ah ye i hate it that when you call the 999 (UK) just to call one of them... then they all come and ur like WHY!!! we dont need you lol. I dont really think they should ask you which service you require if they do that :twitcy:

nah..it wasnt on the news, no news crews here, news crew would have been here if there were casualties or a hit and run or something, otherwise, nothing else is more important lol
