The Genre/Developer Wars

As you will likely know if you've ever been to any video game related website, there are certain characters who most would describe as "fanboys" or "arrogant ****ing douche-bags afraid of trying something else", as others would put it. Some people just develop attachments to certain Video Game Developers or specific genres; this would be fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and personally preferences right? WRONG. According to some people, your a ****ing dork if you play RTS's, or have committed a crime against humanity if you give Blizzard some criticism. You can't really stop trolls and assholes from being who they are, but in recent years I've noticed more flame wars over video games appearing all over(luckily not really here). This sort of thing(in my opinion) really needs to ****ing stop. Were all gamers right? People who go to virtual worlds to escape reality for a bit and have some fun. It shouldn't matter what you play or how you play it, gamers should all have some common ground.

Definitely agree with you. I usually don't care too much about what others do, if they want to play it and they have fun, then good for them. I do have personal opinions about certain things (such as Paying for WoW, something I wouldn't do unless I win the lottery or something) but I wouldn't attack people who would pay for it.

But it's more of a human nature kind of thing. The mentality of "my opinion is better than yours" (e.g. religion)

"Fanboys" are one of the worst things to happen to gaming, they're part of the reason Devs can get away rehashing the same game over and over or with BS DLC that should have been included in the game in the first place.

I've been called an FF/SE fanboy, and I'm such a fan of a lot of the games that I guess people could get that impression.. But hell no. I have no problem admitting that SE has dropped the ball the last few years, that 13 sucks, that 12 is boring or that X-2 is a Charlie's Angels-esque joke.

I have played alittle bit of everything, MxO, EQ2, WoW, various kinds of single player games and MMOG shooters, and I've never understood the people who think that Blizzard is god or Blizzard is hell, or that SOE is the worst way to go, or that Bethesda Softworks are too damned single minded, or if Eidos Interactive is not advanced enough to keep up.

Like you said, we're all gamers, we all go under the same damned category, so why should we fight amongst eachother, when there're lamers out there who'd beat the **** out of us just for liking video games. Why should we fight fellow gamers, and take **** from the moron who thinks video games is the lamest thing in the world?

I hate that some are just to single minded.Theres nothing wrong with liking a studio more than another one. But I hate then people are tracking me down for liking ARMA2 and not liking wow.
