So as some of you probably know I have been advocating and following Wolfire games and there work on Overgrowth.
I had a strong feeling that this indie game would be significant after playing Lugaru HD and realizing the potential of this startup company. The developers have been posting update videos on their work and the art from the project on the website here:
Independent Video Games - Wolfire Games (http://www.wolfire.com/)
What sets this game apart, and makes its interesting to me is the focus on Anthropomorphism. A concept that is used to make many characters endearing by using animals to represent people. Most people can name animal characters. Bugs bunny comes to mind. So its a relatively proven concept. However in this game we see a very new take on what is normally accepted as a child oriented character pull.
This is going to be a brutal action-adventure, unlike anything we have played.
Slowly I have watched alpha videos as they build the background story, game engine, and art concepts around this ongoing development.
Most reciently I have been impressed with a proof of concept test for
Recently they have impressed me with very location oriented damage and blood effects. Considering this is an indie game what they have done is amazing:
*warning lots of blood*

But really, I want to take a moment to sit back and really think about how few full 3D games I have played where you can sever an artery and watch eerily realistic results.
This is just one of the many components of this game that I have been impressed by.
The game as a whole is shaping up rather well and as I have already pre-ordered the game I sometimes post feedback on their forum where they actually consider and respond to fans.
