Newest review, plan on getting my Portal 2 one out asap. Just depends on when I have the time.

Is this review supposed to cut off at the end? It feels like its lacking an outro.
More like a very brief recens, not very in-depth for a review. But gives the overall idea of the console version of the game.

While I agree that it looks good on consoles, and is probably THE best looking game on PS3 and XBOX360 (not really an achievement), the CryEngine three is visually and technically a downgrade of the CryEngine 2. But the CryEngine 2 was too heavy to run on any console. (Compare Crysis Warhead and Crysis 2, the difference is quite notable.)

Good, but still: from a review I'd expect more depth and maybe a little more objectivity, maybe my expectations are too high but rating an enemy ai as "it's doing some stupid sh*t" feels kinda off.

But then again: I have high expectations, and this review sums it all up in a very brief video which I assume is perfect for people in a hurry or who want to get a rapid roundup of a game.

I don't really have an outro, but I was kind of pressed for time for this one, as it was already later than I should've had it done. I'm really not too happy about this one, I didn't really get as much time to do anything with it (review or game) which is why it probably seems rushed. I definitely could've done better.

I don't really agree with the engine being a downgrade, it was optimized better than CryEngine 2, which is what allowed it to be used on consoles. And you can't really compare the two as far as how certain things look, because it's two completely different settings. The textures suffered a little, but it still has several improvements over CryEngine 2 (motion blur, field of view.) Mind you, I'd take something that looks visually impressive (but not mind-blowing) and is stable over something mind-blowing but unreliable.

As far as the ai goes, I didn't really have anything else I could describe it as. Most of the time I was fighting the CELL soldiers, they either stood in the open, in one spot, or would sit behind cover and then leave it to stand in the open. The Seph just basically jumped around, got in your face, and then hopped away from you after it attacked.

That said, I don't really feel like i should have to make 6-10 minute videos just because it's a review. Most looking at reviews are on the fence, and want a quick "Here's whats good, here's whats bad" and wouldn't want to sit through a list of details they know nothing about, already know, or don't care about.

Yea for a short review its an ok review, I'm trying to be constructively critical here.

And I'm quite aware that the Engine wasn't a downgrade, but since Crysis 2 is theoretically a console port, its not as proficient on the PC as it could be.
Crysis 2 Graphics Comparison (PC) - GameSpot Video (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/crysis-2/video/6307650/crysis-2-graphics-comparison)

Crysis 1 was DX10, Crysis 2 is DX9... in a time of DX11, that was a big dealbreaker. And I know, patch is coming, but that doesn't gain the devs any points in my book.

But all in all I agree with you regarding the AI, it had unusually many hickups in this game...

And yes, its ok that its only 4~ ish minutes long, some people just want a short burst of information. I'm glad you got that covered. Looking forward to your Portal 2 rev.

Oh, yeah I see what you're saying. Comparing Warhead to 2 on PC there's going to be no comparison.

They basically based the engine around being able to play on console. And, I didn't realize it was only DX9. I figured it was at least DX10. That's.. pretty dumb.

Thanks man.
