Hey, I'm Jay. I'm new to GF, stumbled across these forums while trolling the interwebs (shocker)

Let me get right to the point - I'm doing some research for a college paper, and I'd like your input. If you own or work in a video game store (preferably independent, but franchise is okay as well), or even if you just have any input and happen have a moment:

* How many customers on average do you get a week / where are you located? (can be general)
* What percentage (guesstimate) of those customers buy:
New games
Used games
Retro games
* How big of a role do trade-ins play in your business?
* What types of games do customers mostly purchase? (FPS, RPG, Racing, Sports, RTS, whatever you think of)
* How is your store / business doing given the current economic situation? Do you see it getting better or worse?
* Are you concerned about services such as Gamefly and Steam undermining your store / business?

Thanks in advance - hoping to get some inspiration or at least provoke some interesting discussion!

Jay

Hey man, why don't you put in a post into the intro section (http://www.gamers-forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31). We'd love to know a little more about ya, and hopefully you'll stay around a while. We're pretty cool people! But, I'll help you out.

* How many customers on average do you get a week / where are you located? (can be general). Slow week; 700. Busy week; 2000+. Northern BC, very small town.
* What percentage (guesstimate) of those customers buy:
New games - 5%
Used games - 5%
Retro games - 1% (I'm counting PS1/2/Xbox/Gamecube otherwise, 0%
* How big of a role do trade-ins play in your business? - We don't do them
* What types of games do customers mostly purchase? (FPS, RPG, Racing, Sports, RTS, whatever you think of) FPS, RPG, Sports
* How is your store / business doing given the current economic situation? Do you see it getting better or worse? It's making a profit, and getting better. Except hockey playoffs have it DEAD slow.
* Are you concerned about services such as Gamefly and Steam undermining your store / business? Nope.
