It really surprised me that no one has mentioned this game on this forum yet! I found it today by luck on the XBox Dashboard and I've made some research about this and I must say, I'm really thinking of getting this.

It kind of looks like a mixture of Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising. Apparentlyyou can play 4 players co-op online, now that would be awesome with this game...

I'm pretty sure that myself or someone else posted the teaser trailer on the forum, and we were all like "HOLY **** LOOKS AWESOME."

The fact of the matter is though, that the game is nothing like the teaser trailer. I thought that it was going to be a mega serious game, with a heart gripping storyline... turns out it will be another hack, slash and boom zombie game... which isn't a bad thing by any means, but I just hope that they put an epic twist in it, and have some cool features involved in the gameplay.

Ive been following this game for awhile now and my thoughts on it keep changing.... while it doesnt seem like anything new (then again, are there really any 'new' and 'original' game ideas nowadays?), it involves killing zombies- which I personally can never get enough of :P

Well if a demo is released I'll try it. I really like zombie games and this game looks very promising graphics-wise, but pretty looks and crappy gameplay doesn't make a good game. We're just gonna have to wait see, huh?

Multiplayer sounds pretty awesome. Basically you can join games with out going through a lobby process while playing, but i would like to know if it can be disabled for people who don't want others helping them.

Just like in Dead Rising 2? I hate that because I'll join, be killin zombies then I'll get kicked... I'm a lobby kinda guy cuz with a lobby I know I wont be kicked cuz were all in there to do one thing, ***** SH*T UP!

I hope there's a beta of some sort released before this game is done, because I'm really not sure on whether to actually spend money on it. I mean, I love L4D2, but Resident Evil co-op will be out soon, and Dead Island hasn't done it for me with the videos, just yet.

I never played L4D, only zombie game I ever played was Resident evil, despite me LOVING zombies :( So I think Dead Island will be awesome, personally :p But hey, I thought Aion Online was gonna be awesome, and look at how much of a fail that turned out to be...

Basically, I think that the people who haven't played L4D will love this game... but people who are fans and players of L4D won't think it's anything special. That's the opinion that I have been able to form anyway, after seeing countless interviews and gameplay videos.

You're right, however this is the type of game that I won't be buying straight off the bat; I'm waiting for reviews first, even though I'm a game reviewer myself for my blog and an internet magazine, and for the forum of course... but I don't like flinging my money at questionable titles :P

I just wish that there would be a game that was co-op, that is more like the first Resident Evil games, where it was a horror experience, and not just a run and gun experience like L4D, etc. is.

Hay I'm planning on getting the game on first release and gonna write a review on it :) I'm even debating wether I wanna spend the money to get L4D as well so I can give a point of view from both sides, since there's an OBVIOUS gap between those who know, and those who dont know L4D, so thought I'd split the review into sections...one for L4D players, one for fresh out of the box zombie gamers(I dont count resident evil as such, it just is a different style in my opinion)

It is indeed, it looks exactly like L4D.

It has co-op but that is not the main point of the game. Really the more I read and watch interviews about it the less it seems like l4d, it's a lot more like borderlands. It has an open world not just set levels and the ability to play with 3 other players but they don't replace bots that are running around with you. The only connection to l4d I get now is that it has zombies and 3 other people can join your game. Comparing dead island and borderlands on the other hand, they both 4 player co-op with rpg elements and some exploration.

Yeah I'm gonna get this game for sure as well, as I've heard you can craft you're own weapons too. Guns won't play a big role since the game mainly focused on melee weapons.

Lol yeah I don't think that high caliber rifles and heavy artillery are common finds on a vacation island for wealthy tourists :D You will be able to find a gun or two as far as I know, but there will be VERY limited ammo, and will run out unusually quickly! So my early advice to future Dead Island gamers, is to save the ammo for REALLY troublesome situations!

The game will revolve almost entirely around melee combat, which is the much more intense kind anyway! Any man can shoot a gun and walk away with a smile on his face, but it takes BRASS BALLS to get up close and personal and stare into the eyes of the person you're about to kill...I dont remember who said that, but I know it was said by someone famous once upon a time!

But I've checked L4D on google and it does indeed seem alittle like Dead Island. And I actually think Muffinbat is wrong. I believe that Co-Op will simply be up to 4 people playing the same campaign as in single player, I think that Co-Op might actually be the preffered gaming experience, rather than being alone, JUST(according to what I read)like L4D.

Would be pretty cool if there would be some kind of Survival Mode in the multiplayer.

Like just survive as long as possible, find/make weapons and at night the zombies would get stronger. Something in that direction you know...

The wave thing yeah, but without the laser guns you know ? :P Like more realistic stuff. You have basically the whole island, a safe house (or a couple) then you need to do something ... :p hahaha

Maybe, but you can never be sure. Most game trailers are deceiving, but the Gameplay footage never lies.

and unfortunately, the gameplay footage doesn't do it for me in regards to Dead Island. It doesn't really look like it re-invents the wheel for zombie survival games... just looks like a tweaked Left 4 Dead game :S

I read somewhere that you would have choices and decisions, which will affect the storyline, like Fallout 3. So it might be a Fallout-alike RPG
