So, using streaming video programs (selected from an abundance) and then using programs like Xsplit you can live stream your desktop
OR
Live stream a program you setup.
Two things happened today when I tested this out:
1. realized I still need to figure out all the settings
2. Dili called me and told me where my team went wrong on the League of legends match. =P
Anyways, (and this is going to sound ambitious at first) what I really thought about and started to realize is that you could setup live group gaming events that are automatically recorded by programs like Justin.tv while they are streaming.
And then, you could loop recording of various games on a single channel. In this way, you could have gameplay from the forum members either streaming or randomly played from a collection on its very own GF-channel.
A gamers forum TV channel!
Realizing that this wouldn't even be that hard also make me think about all the fun I could be having creating a whole audio video component for a website like this, with "radio show" style podcast and member reviews, interviews, and event coverage.
Im going to play around with all the fun tools you can find on the web, but my basic idea is for a GF TV channel that hosts live events and features members reviews.

if only my internet were good enough to stream and play a round of LoL at the same time. I'll have to test it and see how high my ping gets...
ninja edit: that blitzcrank on your team was hella retarded
I'd totally be up for this :D I would gladly be playing and stream it live, I'd be truely flattered if people were interested in seeing what I was doing :D

Could we not do this with TinyChat? You can use ManyCam to record your screen as a webcam, stream the webcam to TinyChat, and have multiple live streams connected so you could watch everyone streaming. Say Dili is on LoL, I'm playing Counterstrike, and Saph is rocking Minecraft, we could all stream. Then, if you wanted to watch LoL, you can mute the other two, (I think there's an option to make one or more of the webcams bigger), and watch what you want to.
Just an idea, 'cause hosting a domain with tons of people streaming would be expensive, you'd think. Or we could just all run justin.tv accounts, with links to eachother's accounts in the channel description.

yo, I like ROFLBRYCE's idea,
but the overall idea bob, to have each of us playing online, that'd be great!
it's slightly better than going to the IRC, whenever I go in there, its DEAD most of the time... the crew broke up huh?

Or, my original idea is to have an embedded video on the homepage hosted by something like justin.tv but using something like xsplit to also have it stream recordings or programs. That way there is always member generated content shown on that channel.
Group events could be live streamed for those who want to participate, and join the chat and such, but dont have that specific game. That way no one is left out.

Sorry man, misread the post. I just woke up and it was not making any sense to me, D: But yeah I get what you're saying now. That's a way better idea, then there's programming. Not just whenever someones online. Ignore what I said, xD

I tried justin.tv and streamed a few things for friends in the past, but never really events or did anything like this.
But how would it work though? Who would be streaming? And how do we determine what's being streamed if multiple people are on and want to stream something.
I really like the idea. We'll see if we can get something done with it.
+Rep for it.

I suppose someone would have to leave a computer running and sacrifice some bandwith for live streaming.
I will do some research and find out about the best way to do programs. I think through xsplit its live streaming a channel on your desktop that you can switch in and out of. That would eat up a lot of bandwith to constantly run. If you can have a channel that just plays a list of videos saved online when you are not live streaming a group event that would be the best route.
When I talk about multiple points of view I mean we could, take the recording of anyone who played and streamed live and add them to the channel as part of a program or have someone edit them into a single program. I myself have decent video editing software and enjoy doing that sort of stuff. I think the default view of the live streaming event would have to be done by the person in charge of the channel. It would be very difficult to find a way to switch between members during a live event.
For for right now Im doing a lot more research into free or super cheap options. I dont want to ask anyone to host this as part of a server, affecting their bandwidth. So I will see what I can do.

I would love to participate in this, and if you ever get a backlog of vids to edit, i could help out on that part. :)
+rep for a great idea. :)
