Bush ruined everything for 8 years and now were in the fallout of those 8 years and Barack cant do much, doubt the next 2 presidents are gonna do much to get us out of this recession but maybe it can get better to the point where there's more jobs in the next couple years. The only true way to fix the economy is to pump it full of money! In other words, buy buy buy! You gotta put money into the system to fix it, so go buy that Corvette you always wanted not only are you gonna break the speeding laws, but you'll help our country :Dd
Captive got it spot on. Bush was pretty much carried onto the big chair by his father, and corporate leaders, and pretty much made every mistake in the book, only to round off his 8 years too long presidency with getting shoes thrown at him, TWICE(the people were never charged and were released soon after).
Obama is now blamed for all of the **** that Bush caused, and all he wants to do is fix it, but there's so much upstream to go through, I doubt he'll make it before next election, and due to the missguided opinion of so many, that he has done NONE of the things he promissed to do? I doubt, sad and wrong as it is, that he'll be elected again.
I agree with Captive, I say stop thinking that saving a bunch of money and ride out the storm will make it easier for you. Due to the fact that millions of people have this idea, the problem is stretched out that much further. I agree, go out and spend your money on that bike you wanted, or go out and get that flatscreen TV you've been drooling over for several weeks, or buy those awesome shoes that your friends would swoon over. Get some money circulating!

It's hard to spend money when you're being taxed out the a**
I'm not going to get into politics, America killed their economy when they started relying on China to make everything. You can blame Bush, Obama, whoever you want. (Personally I believe Obama is making it worse, my opinion)
But the economy started failing when they started making it hard for American goods to be produced, so we had to go to China for imports. And until we stop that, I'll economy won't ever be good.
In other news, my other view of the economy was gas was at $4.05 so I filled my car up and then gas went down to $3.59 the next day. :(
Money is useless untill we make it useful.
You know whats different between the US and Denmark?
In the US, you pay your government to run your country, but instead its spent to increase the salary of the rich and powerful.
In Denmark, you pay your government to run your country, and they actually, ACTUALLY do it.
Why America mostly sucks:
If you have cancer and cant afford a life ensurance? They'll gladly let you die in agony, rather than help you.
If you're a student? You'll be in debt for the rest of your life when you have to pay back your student loan.
If you're rich? You're automatically socially accepted, your face is in the news, your art is always loved, and your fashion sense is ALWAYS the best, I give you a prime example: Paris Hilton
If you're poor? You're automatically an outcast, and doomed to be a lower caste than the rich. No one will help you unless you have something to give in return, and if you get as poor as begging on the streets? You are looked down upon and scoffed at, and no one EVER gives you a dollar to actually help you, its only cause they're happy about being able to do so, about themselves, and about how happy they are that they're not you.
In Denmark:
If you don't have a life ensurance? Well, there is no such thing, all people behind danish borders will get top notch medical help, no matter if they're a danish citizen or not. If an illegal immigrant catches a deadly, but easily cureable disease? They will help you get well, and THEN they might deport you, but you get a shot at becomming a danish citizen first, and if you fail, you get deported, and can try again after 3 months.
If you're a student and can't afford the loans afterwards? Well, there isn't that issue either, cause in Denmark, all students are PAID to go to school, that's right, I'm gonna be PAID to have THEM teach ME. It's called SU(no idea what it stands for), and the more 'independant' you are, the higher your SU payment per month will be. For example, a 16 year old who lives with his parents? Wont get too much SU, maybe 2000kr($400), while someone like me, who has legally moved out of his parents' home, is above 18 AND 21 years old, has a wife, AND a child below the age of 6? I'll be getting 6500 kr($1300). And to top it off, I'll be getting child funds as well, which is another 1800kr($360), So I'll be getting $1660 just for having a family, and going to school, more than twice of my mortgage(sp?). And to make good things great, you are also paid SU during the holidays, christmas, new years, easter, summer, fall vacations are all paid periods as well...so pretty much, EVERY month, of EVERY year that you're in school in Denmark, the government is paying you to do so, their only requirement? To educate, and it's all given to you, no paybacks later.
If you're rich? Meh, no one cares, only if you're a nice guy. If you're an asshole you could be Bill Gates, people would still tell you to go f urself.
If you're poor? The government will pay you to get back on your feet, and help you find a job, and/or an education.
^ Is only figurative. In Denmark there really arent any super rich or super poor. There's a minimum salary limit, so it's impossible to have a job that pays too little for you to get by.
That's why I like Denmark. :D

My parents live in Hungary so I have some clue about tax, and well... you should be happy that you have a taxing system which is taken seriously cuz this is what sustains the country (or part of it). In Hungary the rich always have some dirty ways to pay not a single coin and all their tax is lost. And nobody gives a sh** cuz this is cool, everyone should fu** their country... And only the poor pay tax because they have no means to avoid it. But a few poor people's tax is not enough to sustain a country with many rich *******s and the poor have to pay even higher taxes. And so on. Tax has the good side as well.

One thing I always notice is that the last president is always blamed and the new president is given a break. Its really annoying to see that happen. What screwed up the economy is 9/11. Billions plus spent on Homeland Security plus security upgrades all over. That isnt cheap and it hit us where it hurt. I hope Obama isnt elected again I believe in change, but its not coming from him anytime soon.

Uhm.....
Yea....the president...
And congressmen...
Last I heard, in a Capitalism, a business, a privately owned business, makes its own money. If it makes a lot of money because it's a good company? Yes, the rich get rich. If it isn't? They don't. It's not a hard concept to understand that when you earn money, you earn money. Successful people do not rely on the government to help them in America.

Yes that's very true and it should work this way in every country... If I'm rich I won't stand in line for some "extra" that I don't really _need_

Im sorry but the finance crash tell otherwise, the car industries got LOTS of money to save it but most of the money just got into the pockets of wall street. During the bush time wallstreet basically steered the congress where to go.

Its not really a crash more of a WTF happened moment. Obama gave out bail out money to the car indutsy and I know it went into the pockets of the CEO and higher ups. People are greedy.
And can we stop blaming Bush for everything... Seriously when a new president comes in and Obama is removed we will be blaming him for everything and giving the new president the benefit of the doubt.

Even if things have turned away for Obama Im still happy that he won, if McCain won you would probably be at war with both Afghanistan and Iran.

But we are at war with Afghanistan and Iran... Were at war with the major players in the Middle East. Truly after OBL was given the old 2 to 1 treatment, 2 in the chest one in the head, we should have pulled out quickly. Giggity.
My problem with all presidents is this. They care more about whats going on in the world instead of whats going on in the US. Granted to an extent that is very important however thats why you have agencies in the US that handles that situation.
Bush was different he cared about the war in the middle east and the US, hence Homeland Security.

From my understanding, our economy could fix itself if the government would stop spending so much that isn't needed and stop with the increase in taxes. Our revenue is actually higher than it has been in the past years, but yet due to spending and bail outs, we just fall even farther. Yes, money must be spent because as you can learn in any economics class, money must be spent before it can be gained, but we are spending too much. As for taxes, it can be presumed, based on human nature, that the increase in federal money will actually cause more spending. Even if we do manage to get out of this deficit, we still owe countries like China so much that we'll go right back into it. As I see it, just be smart with your money and accept that our government is trying to help, but only making it worse. Spend money on what you must, such as food and gas, and save the other portions. Stop using credit cards, and start using debit. Be smart with your money, so that when others are in agony and poverty, you'll be getting by.
