I thought it was about time I met some people who enjoys gaming as much as I do so signed up to this site. My name is Simon, 27, been playing all sorts since single figures really. It was only until recently that the industry hit a huge boom and has become even bigger than huge. To this, I am 2 years into a Game Design diploma and thoroughly enjoying it. Getting very in-depth but is enabling me to piece my own idea together professionally and I could do with some helping hints from all professions alike. So amongst being a full time student and working full time, I wouldn't mind having a few friends who I can discuss with and chat to, with minds open of course. Chow for now.

Thanks buddy, well, on my pc, I tend to go for strategy games or MMORPG's, although I have got a wide array of other genres. On PS3 I usually go for RPG's or FPS's, but again got many others too. Playing Dragon Age 2 at the mo, disappointed though. How about yourself?
Sup Switch :D Welcome to GF! I don't really care about having people from Denmark join, I just want more people from Europe to hang out with on odd timezones XD(Just moved away from Florida 2 weeks ago)
You design games huh? Awesome, but does that mean that when your game dev business becomes a huge friggin success, that all of us at gamers forum get special discounts on all games? :D Please say yes, omg!!!!
Either way, welcome again! Remember to read and follow the rules! Hope you'll be enjoying yourself ^_^

Cheers mate. Love Florida, why would you move away! I'm sure there's quite a few years yet before I can do anything, but who knows! And why not, you can be my betas lol. What games you into?
Eh man the part of Florida that I lived in was NOT something you'd love, lol. I lived in the middle of nowhere in Northern Florida between Ocala and Gainesville, in a little town called Citra. I pretty much lived in the meca of rednecks, where people shot M4 carbines into the air just for the hell of it. Heck one guy even got his hands on a grenade which he threw into a forest :S And another guy was a pyromaniac, he sat fire to a forest and a guys house while we were there, and all of us knew who he was, but we were too damned scared to tell anyone o.O That's what I lived in, lol, the hidden away hush hush part of Florida that EVERYONE who makes a fortune on tourism do NOT want you to know about, lol XD
And I wouldn't mind being a beta tester XD And what games I'm into?
1st person shooters
Horror
RPG(Free Roam, not any of the Dragon Age bull**** where you can't go exploring anything at all, I'm more into the Elder Scrolls or Fallout sort of free roam)
MMORPGs(Played WoW for 6 years, EQ2 for 3 years, and MxO for 2 years)

Omg, why didn't you leave sooner lol. I've just put those areas in my avoid book. Maybe my holidays there will be in Disney from now on! :D
Yeah, I know what you mean about free roaming games, apparently the new tomb raider for 2012 has an open ended environment with no linear paths you have to follow. But we will see., I mean, she's stranded on an island....how much space can there be!
I pretty much play LOTRO, love it, although I downloaded League of Legends yesterday and that seems cool. Dota was an old fav of mine.

I don't mate. I'm a rugby fan - Wales all the way (half welsh).
Although when the football world cup comes around, i pull out my England and Uruguay flags! Love world cup.
On a side note, what do you write about? Or any paticular styles? You know much about play writing?

To be honest, that's a sensible route! Football isn't a sport any more, it's a business... but I have blue blood, and I have Everton on the brain, so I can't get shut of it :P
Well I used to write sit-coms in college, but I stopped doing that as I got a bit bored. Then I started writing songs and doing small gigs in my locals, then I was in a band but didn't do any of my songs because we were lazy... ha, and now I write reviews and news articles for video games and movies, but mostly video games! I write for an internet magazine called Blogcritics.org, and I'm aiming towards becoming a writer for a top magazine either on paper or on the internet, preferably a magazine like EDGE, Games TM, Gamespot or IGN!

Your one to keep close by then! Critics, regardless of their opinions, make or break what they are reviewing. Thats admirable mate. I'll have to check out some of your reviews sometime. Do you review any game, or just what you fancy at the time?

Thankya!
Well, I'm in between jobs at the moment as I got sick of the civil service (jobcentre plus) so I decided to call it quits whilst I had a lot of money saved and use it to travel! So, I've been doing that for a little under a year, so as you can imagine my funds are somewhat exhausted to a certain extent. I have enough to live off, but not enough to spend on a lot of games, so it's pretty much whatever I can get my hands on at the time. The magazine that I write for does offer review material for games and whatever else, however because they're based in the USA it's hard for me to get a chance to get a hold of that material; it's a pain.
As well as reviews though, I spread gaming news and put my own spin on it, whack a few opinions in here and there. Some of my early stuff, and current stuff is on my blog (http://jayhmmz.blogspot.com/), and the published stuff you can find here (http://blogcritics.org/writers/jay-blundell/) through my writer's profile. You'll have to scroll to the bottom of that page to find my articles.
