Elder Scrolls is 17 years old. I think this Thread is kinda useless for "Oblivion" and that's just 5 years.
Hey, what about Zelda? (25 years old)
Sonic The Hedgehog? (20 years old)
Star Wars (34 years old)

And btw. Battlefield is getting 10 years old next year. (19. Septembre)

First thing to do in a game of oblivion is to go to the Imperial City arena. Get a sword and a shield from A Fighting Chance in the market district. Make sure you have a handful of health potions from your tutorial through the secret dungeon. Then go sign up as a gladiator in the blood works.

You make a ton of gold
You get a good amount of starting levels
You get a good amount of starting rep
You get a good amount of extra combat skills(Talk to the gray prince, the grandmaster orc who stands and hits a target in the blood works. He'll have a quest for you to go find out his heritage. Follow his instructions, and bring back proof, and he'll increase your blade, athletics, and block skills permanently)

@Mordry: wtf does that matter?..................

Isnt the arena very hard on the early levels?

It isnt realy difficult on the default difficulty level or lower, but once you kick it up to about 70-100% the area gets hard!

Well of course everything gets harder on higher difficulties, that's why it's called difficult-y :p

But I don't think the difficulty of the Arena scales any different depending on the difficulty level you've set.

Since the difficulty of your enemies scales with how high level you are, then it shouldn't really matter if its on 40% or 100%, the scaling is the same.

Yea, the arena does scale aswell, but at a higher difficulty the gear you can obtain in the beginning of the game isnt good enough to defeat arena combatants.

Nope, not really. I just wanted to post my opinion about this Thread :).
