I'm stumped. This is like McDonalds selling their cow farm to Burger King. But it's ok! Huh?

In the short term this means money. But in the long term Toshiba owns them. The PS4 may be called the Toshiba4. Comments?

obviously you didn't even read the report.
this i think at first will be a good move for Sony although they'll be losing out on $700k after the original value of these factories were $1.5billlion. it will allow them to sell the console at a lower price but eventually the cost will have to go up either because toshiba finding it's own use for the cell processor or finding they can make SONY pay more.

a new processor is made for every new console so there won't be a "Toshiba4" as you seem to figure. And if they were to release a console with this chip - which they quote is versatile - it'll probably be something like the "Tosh-Station" for example.
playstation had the emotion engine
playstation 2 had the emotion engine 2
playstation 3 had cell
xbox had an intel
xbox 360 im not sure

processors are different in every console so saying this:
"This is like McDonalds selling their cow farm to Burger King. But it's ok! Huh?

In the short term this means money. But in the long term Toshiba owns them. The PS4 may be called the Toshiba4" is rather ill-informed and obviously no assessment of the plan :)
