How do I make a disk that will restore the factory settings on my computer just in case I need to? Is it called system image? I made a recovery disk but that isn't it because whatever is on that disk is not letting me open it with any of the programs I own. I really don't know crap about computers... I want to take this computer back to factory soon there is a problem I am encountering and I want to see if factory will resolve or if it is something else. As for losing everything I don't have anything I can't re-download on here so it doesn't matter. I am not someone who uses the computer for keeping my things I have a External for everything that is important.
Oh and how many disks do you think it will be. Thanks any help will be uh, helpful :)

[Control Panel>Performance & Maintenence>System Restore]
Most newer computers and laptops should have a setting to go either a certain point back, or to factory reset the computer.
Back up any and all games, music, pictures and video you don't want deleted when this happens. I'm assuming your on a Windows computer btw :P

Windows computer, and nope that is not how it is done. Plus not really what I was asking but thanks. If I go to system restore my most recent and ONLY restore point is when I downloaded something (newer download). And yeah I know to save anything I want to keep, but I gather you didn't read what I wrote at all...

It sounds like he did his best to try and help you, so I'd advise not saying that he didn't read your post at all when he gave you advice he thought would work. He said that he thought that should give you an option to reset your computer to factory settings, which is exactly what you were asking for in your post. If the way he said it doesn't work for you, then that is a different issue.
What operating system are you running?

Sorry I had just got done having a heated debate on something and the people really pissed me off because they didn't know what they were talking about because they apparently have never owned or used what they were bashing. I was still a little pissed off from that...
So I am sorry about the last post I made.
Anyways I am using Windows 7 Just whatever the 1st cheapest edition is (Home premium I think?) not starter I have the full Windows 7.

if you want to reset your computer to factory you must go through the bios reboot your computer hit f8 there will be a setting that give you the option to reset it to factory. I do not clearly remember the way to get there since it has been months since ive used that option.

Your computer comes with instructions on how to restore your settings via making a Restore Disk, Im not sure where it is, but a pop-up comes up and it asks if you want to make a restore disk, and if you say yes, then it tells you how to.

I did read what you wrote, you want a disc that takes your computer back to factory settings, which, as I'm reading it, is the exact same as the day you bought it from the factory, nothing installed but factory default settings and programs.
This is the method I used, and on my Toshiba Satellite computer, it gave me two options:
-Select a recent restore point (your only option in this case)
OR
-Factory reset my computer, which I have done in the past. I read what you wrote and responded with the solution I used that worked for it, also running on Windows 7 at the time, and it still gives me this option running Vista which I downgraded back to with my system restore.

If you bought a prebuilt pc from a known manufacturer like Dell or HP, they should have something you can download and burn on their websites. I am not a 100% sure though. They are factory reset disks.
Some companies won't have it and if it's custom built, it's even less likely that you'll be able to get your hands on it.
Also as joker said, there is sometimes an option during boot that you can use to reset things to factory defaults - again, it's mostly available on prebuilt PCs from big manufacturers. It's not exactly in the Bios, it's generally another option. I have a Lenovo Thinkpad, it's a blue thinkvantage button on my laptop that allows me to restore my laptop to factory defaults.
What OS are you using?
She stated Win7 earlier.

You could also just go to the Control Panel, and just search recovery disks, or something along the lines of that.
