You're not wrong there. I unfortunately traded my Xbox 360 copy in after a while, as my friends bailed on the game, and it eventually got a bit boring for me.
Considering re-purchasing it for PC, from Steam, so I can get in the swing of things again, and possibly revive some co-op play with friends.

I still haven't played the first, but I've heard great things and I want to. I'll look around and see if I can find a good deal on it.

I know that on a European website called Zavvi you can get Borderlands GotY edition for the equivalent of around £9, as opposed to the standard version which is around £14... makes no sense to me, but still good prices!
Horribly boring...
The first one that is...

Playing alone, then granted, it is boring. Co-op play with friends however, that is awesome.
Co-op is better, but I hardly have anyone come over who plays seriously.. :P

I didn't think the first one was anything special, but I'll rent out the new one when it comes out to see if its better than the first instalment of the game.

TL;DR: Borderlands 1 was bad D: rushed through development and it shows. I still played tons of it, regardless, because I am masochistic. I hope Borderlands 2 brings more to the table!
I hope they finish this one! First one had a great engine and concept with just a few key flaws to me. Incredibly redundant mob types throughout the world, the exact same drab environments everywhere in the world (unless you nabbed the zombie DLC which gave you a dark forest looking place to explore), and a plotline, ending, and final boss that screams anti-climax like none other :(
There were even models, textures, and animations hidden inside the client for additional mobs, vehicles, and even extra parts of the last boss that were never finished being developed that would have added some needed diversity to the game. The whole game felt like it was rushed too hard through development.
Also, sad days level cap at 50 (though it was raised later and could be raised with save editors). Just doesn't take long to get there and get a ton of god-tier weapons. Also, Siren OP cause her phasewalk gives her enough time to get her shields and health back to full from nothing for the duration that she's invincible, she's offered an incredible amount of perks to reduce the cooldown on phasewalk to just a few seconds, and offers higher burst damage than any of the other three blokes with ease.
All that aside, I loved the game and played a lot of it with a good number of people. It just saddened me that the game had surprisingly little replay value after you hit the level cap (looting for that slightly nicer gun seemed rather pointless when there wasn't anything to do with it). That didn't stop me from doing every side quest and finding all the easter eggs...
I have problems ;_; I hope, for my sake, that they follow through with this game and make it worthwhile. 'Cause I'm gonna end up wasting myself on it either way ;_;

Well I have read a lot of player reviews much like the one you just did there, so hopefully the dev team will take all of it on board and make something excellent out of the first one. Here's hoping anyway...
