i'd recomend a internal ;) but if you do not have space inside you can always look for a Maxtor external :P or you can just buy a internal and a external case :P

the Maxtor's are really good(they can take alot of dammage xP i droped one 5 storries, it still works as a charm ^^)
sizes i'd go for a 250 -> 400 gig (500 is so expensive yet :P)

lol, i think so, i havent opened up my cpu in a long long time, i dont know what else is in there, i have hard drives in there tho lol, C drive and D drive, that one is about 40 gigs, it has my recovery files, i dont want to add other stuff in it, only the most important files go in there, and i still need more space :D

opening the case will not make you loose the files xD an internal hdd will appear as a external would ;)

guess so, the largest i've heard of is 750 gb (allthough there are som 4.5" (regular= 3.5") that can take 40-50tb xD their too large for a regular pc user)

xps sux, dell sux :P
regular pc cases are not wide enugh for the 4.5" hdd's, 4.5 is made for rac servers witch are max 23 cm high, but their as mutch as 45-60 cm wide =)

costum is best ;) you can get the latest stuff, also most pc's today are build in steel cases, if youre smart when making a costum buy alu/titanium case ;) they are stronger and lighter, the alu cases are some times cheaper than the same steel =) next time i'm going to build costum i will get me a titanium case =) costum made ofcorse :P

Maxtors get some real ****ty reviews though lol

I mean some companies rate it decently high, but some of the bad reviews are kinda scary...

For example:

"I bought this 6 months ago and used it maybe three times. I used the drive to store Photoshop images to make room on my Mac. Yesterday I went to get my images and the found the drive had only a blinking blue light. I talked to Maxtor and was told ... Read more >it had crashed , they will send me a new one but the only option to get my images was to pay $500-$1,000 for data recovery. "

And there were a few other similar stories of Maxtors crashing without the ability to regain the lost files.
