As the title says, the Senior Developer over at EA DICE has confirmed that the rumours of Battlelog being the new Battlefield server browser and main menu for the game are true.

This idea brings positives and negatives to the table. The main positive being that being able to launch the game straight into a server without having to watch intro videos will indeed save a hell of a lot of time when it comes to playing the game and finding a server once you have launched.

I had a chance to play the Alpha version of the game for around 7 days, and I can say that the Battlelog server browser did work really well, both for searches and joining. However, having to have Origin open at the same time to launch the actual game was a bit of a nuisance! Apart from that, it gets the thumbs up from me.

The only main negative really was that gamers will have to Alt + Tab out of the game, or even close it, if they wanted to find and join a new server. This won't be too much of a problem though I don't think, and it is something that people will warm to, because it's not like you're Alt + Tabbing the full game, as it's just going to be a lightweight version of the game for just the multiplayer side.

That was the story in brief, but you can read my article explaining the confirmation in full over on Game Craic - Battlefield 3 PC: Battlelog Will Be The Main Menu (http://game-craic.com/2011/08/battlefield-3-pc-battlelog-will-be-the-main-menu/)

What are your thoughts?

Indeed :P
The whole method will become routine. However, it is an unnecessary change in method.
