View Full Version : Help Me Energy Drinks

I have like four energy drinks per week at most, due to me being up long hours and generally being mentally drained at some points in the week.
Is it safe for me to be drinking that many of them a week? Sometimes I go for long periods of time with only having maybe 1 can of energy drink per week, and sometimes none at all. Regardless, will it cause me any problems in the long run, or does it just put people with heart problems at risk?
Myself, I think there'd be no problems, because at the end of the day people drink like 3 cups of coffee per day which would have their caffeine intake sky high!
I did Google it, but it's just full of people trolling and scaremongering.
Thanks :)

Well if you have more then 10 a week their is a slight risk of your liver degrading, as it happened to me, but like you said you sometimes go weeks without one, so I think theirs no cause for concern :)

No way :( I hope it hasn't caused any further repercussions, and that you're OK now!
Thanks for the info :)

Good news! :D
Bad thing about energy drinks is that they can be terribly addictive.

Is that the game where it's like Tekken, but Dragon Ball? I remember playing a demo for a DB game, and it was awesome, but I never got round to actually buying it.

I Believe that was the effect they were going for, the nostalgia of reliving possibly the best anime series of the 80-90's, though they did use some of the DB Kai Audio (Worst decision ever) It's still a very good game, but the next one will be even better as it has ... FULL CHARACTER CUSTOMISATION *Dances around like a little kid*

It could, but like he said, unless you're drinking several of them each day you'll be fine.

yeah, four a week isnt really that much if you compare to some others. And if you drink it because you need it and not because you just like the taste its probably ok.

4 a week is ok, don't go over 1 1/2, or 2 if you're a bit bigger (like 70-80kg), in a 24 hour period though.
While you're drinking them, drink AT LEAST 2 big glasses of water with each one. You can get really dehydrated as the caffeine makes your kidneys run faster, and they need water to function properly. I was finding whenever I drank one, my kidneys would hurt like hell right away, and after drinking a couple more I found the reason. Just don't drink them dehydrated, it's too tough on your kidneys and other organs as well.

You're not kidding, I was in Asda a few months ago, and they had 6 packs of Lucozade on offr for £2, so I bought a few packs of them. Ended up drinking them so quickly, I found myself spending like £12 a week on them, which was like, 36 bottles that I was easily going through, I kept that up for a while, and when they went of the offer, I found myself still buying them at nearly double the price, because yeah, it's stupid to say but I was slightly addicted to them :X

I don't do energy drinks. My Energy is all natural!
But I used to drink a lot of coffee for energy in the morning. Tried Red Bull a few times too but never got into it. I quit drinking coffee too.
Monster is my vice, but my boss keeps the fridge in my office stocked with Rockstar and Redbull. I hate Redbull, but Rockstars are awesome. I ended up drinking like 4 of them last night when I pulled a 17 hour shift on little sleep.

Not a bad thing. I only do/did when I'm at work, and I don't wanna like pass out xD
I suggest The Green/Yellow Amped, or the green cans of Monster. Best ones imo, if you do ever feel the need to partake in these caffeinated delicacies.

I like Amp, only the regular flavored, and I loved Sobe Adrenaline Rush before all the different flavors and stuff. I don't drink them much these days.
I prefer Vault like I preferred Surge back in the day. Remember Surge? My parents would scold me if they found me with one because I'd be wired for hours. lol

Well, as far as I am concerned you will be healthy, I drink a 12 pack of soda a day, which has been going on the past few years. =p

Gonna be serious, stop while you can. Family friend of my gf's family just had a stroke from this a few months back. Drank 1-2 cases daily, had a stroke. Doctors told him it was cause from a buildup of some of the chemicals in coke. He stopped drinking right after, went back to a case a week after a couple months and had another stroke. Now the dude can barely talk and has trouble with stairs..
DON'T DRINK SO MUCH POP!!!!
edit: Also, this was after about 2-3 years of the habit.

I've been drinking mountain dew, for about 6 years now, nearly a 12 pack a day.
I think it counter balances because I also drink lots of water, sorry about your GF's friend.. :/

Doesn't really matter what brand it is, it's still realllly bad. Especially since Mountain Dew's actually extremely acidic .

Won't necessarily cause a kidney stone, but even with water, caffeine and sugar takes a toll on your kidneys and your liver, too. Not saying stop your habits, cause I friggin' love pop and I've been drinking it like crazy lately, but look into what it does and make sure you're not in risk. We don't wanna lose one of our aspiring GF GFX artists!

But anyway, I will be more cautious, but I will never stop. :)
