when you try to open a rar or zip file, do you get a dialog box with 4 options.. 'buy online', 'how to buy', 'close' and 'help'?

Just click close on the dialog box and it should work as normal, i've been using an expired version of winrar for years now..

You can get around that by getting a copy from rarlab.com instead of whatever the main site that comes up for winrar is. (This is completely legal, too.)

Haha, It's true that you can Bypass the 'Buy Online' popup buy clicking the 'x' but It gets annoying after awhile :)

This used to work for me, but for whatever reason when I installed it on my laptop, after the expiry, there is no red X in the corner. There's "Upgrade", "Help", and "Close", which closes it all down.

An alternative to winrar I found was 7zip, and I prefer it over winrar.

I recommend 7-Zip, I've used it for years, it's free and does what it's supposed to.
