I've been feeling down lately so I watched few of my favorite childhood movies over the extended weekend and it's been a surprisingly good mood-booster :]. Just finished watching The Land Before Time and it has me feeling all nostalgic so I thought I'd ask: What are your favorite animated flicks?
These hold a special place in my heart no only because they're great movies, but because of the aforementioned nostalgia and the impact they had on my childhood:
The Lion King - Ahhh, Lion King. I remember being like 5 years old and getting really pissed off cause, while playing 'lion king', my buddy refused to step down as/let me be Simba and my crush was playing Nala :P (I got the girl in the end anyway cause she ended up becoming my first girlfriend :] )
The Land Before Time - A fantastic film that spawned a slew of horrible sequels.. Also, From an artistic standpoint, I have to say I love the gritty look of the animation.
Balto - This movie is so underrated, or maybe I just overrate it, either way it's one of my favorites.
Aladdin
Finding Nemo - I'd also list this in my most hated, simply because of how many (literally hundreds of) times my little cousin has forced me to watch it with him.

Ice Age. They used the perfect set of norwegian actors when they dubbed it.

Gotta add The Jungle Book, Hercules, Fox and the Hound, Road to El Dorado, Prince of Egypt (kinda biblical, still sweet movie even though I don't care for that stuff), and lastly, The Pagemaster.
All movies I've been trying to hunt down to watch recently. Succeeded in all but The Pagemaster....it's hard to track down but well worth the watch if it's as good as I remember it to be.

SYNGE really awesome thread and i have to say your choices made me smile.
when it comes to animated movies im a real Disney fanboy i think they made some timeless movies back in the day today it just seems to be cg stuff over and over which is unfortunete.
Aladdin + Return of Jaffar + King of Thieves
These movies are amazing i still find myself humming the tunes to these songs mostly the original though. ("Prince Ali, Fabulous he!, Ali Ababwa! ... there i go again)
Lion king
I didnt get into the sequels to this movie but the original is definatly a classic i still remember going to the theature to see this when i was young and i wont deny i shed a tear.
Alice in Wonderland (disney)
this movie is great i dont have a lot to say other then watch it
its pretty damn out there this is the difinitive Alice in wonderland movie
hollywood can keep there live action to themselves.
101 Dalmations
this is one of my go to movies back when released i remember i used to watch this on VHS near on repeat when i first got it.
so there are plenty of other disney movies worth mentioning so many in fact i wont waste time doing so. there are other animations that i used to love Land before time, brave little toaster, Fern Gully, Footrot Flats.
Nostelga is a very important thing to me i know thats why i prefer classic gaming over modern and this reflects to things i used to watch growing up there are so many animated tv shows that i could mention here but perhaps thats another thread for you to start:)

I'd prefer to watch animated movies (if good) over any crappy real people move. I have a ton that I wouldn't mind watching (and have watched) a 1000 times.
So far in the past few years, I've liked a few of these:
Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs
How to Train your Dragon
The Simpsons Movie
9
Wall-E
Monsters, Inc.
Madagascar (the first one)
Kung Fu Panda
They're not in any order.
There are a ton more that I can watch over and over again.

I thought you'd never ask :P ... <3
Pagemaster! I'd never heard of it so I looked it up. Come to find out, this is the movie I was looking for a couple years ago, but couldn't remember enough about to find the title! My cousin rented it from the library and we watched it once when she babysat me; I loved it but never knew the name. I need to find a way to see it again.
SYNGE really awesome thread and i have to say your choices made me smile.
Fern Gully
Thanks :]
I love all of your choices (bar Alice, was never really a fan :x) especially Fern Gully, haven't seen it in a while but I remember it being really great.
The Secret of NIMH (SO AWESOME O_O)
Definitely. The book was one of my childhood favorites so I loved that the movie didn't stray too far from it.

Anything directed by Hayao Miyazaki. (Spirited Away.. etc..)
Akira
Ninja Scroll
Eden of the East: King of Eden (absolutely amazing!)
I'm sure you know where this is headed so I'll stop there. ;)
Oh, and I love Pixar movies or any of those new animated films that have subtle adult humor sprinkled in. Pretty good stuff.

Pagemaster! Now there's a film. Coulda used a bit more Cristopher Lloyd but it was still bloody epic.
If I had to pick a favourite animated film from my childhood, however, it would have to be.... No... Now I can't think of anything better than The Pagemaster.
I did love Road To El Dorado and Prince of Egypt. Plus Alladin will always have a special place in my heart.
Tell ya what though, You find me a copy of Dinsours the movie (you know, with Rex and Tops in Saur City. where the kids travel through the TV into their world?) and I'll find you The Pagemaster :P I've been searching for months now.

Totally remember this movie. Loved it all the time, same with "We're Back!" the one with dinosaurs in NYC and stuff. OH And Oliver and Company too. Forgot that movie even existed.
