In 2007 Bethesda came out with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. This year they are continuing the legacy with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The creators have gained a little more experience from Fallout 3 and are putting a lot of that into Skyrim.
There are some major changes in this installment of the Elder Scrolls series. In Skyrim you will notice a rather large creature lurking about. A dragon. Dragons haven’t been seen in Tamriel for centuries, but they are back and better than ever. In fact, your character will be a dragon-born and can learn the language of the dragon. Each word you learn in the dragon’s language will give you special powers such as, fire breath, storm calling, or the ability to call dragons to aid you in a fight.
Along with the new creatures and powers is a brand new graphics engine. The engine takes in great detail such as tiny flowers, patches of grass, and snow capped mountains. An enhanced third person view is being added due to the great detail the creators have offered. Your items list has even been enhanced. Each individual item has a 3d view that allows you to take in some of its detail, like its origin.
The way your character makes a living has even changed, allowing you to take part in the changing economy, losing money in recessions and making money afterwards. You can sabotage your business competitors or rob your boss in the middle of the night.
The combat has been enhanced quite a bit, introducing a new duel wield ability. Dueling wielding spells allows you to mix them and create new, more powerful spells. You can now sneak up behind an enemy and slit their throat, silently killing them. And now instead of slicing a sword in an enemy’s general direction, you can get up close, watch how your weapon effects your enemy, and utilize a powerful finishing move, such as stabbing them in the gut or stomping their head into the ground.
Bethesda put a lot of love into this game and we think it’s going to be a great game. But that’s only our opinion, we’d like to know what you think. Please leave comments and tell us how you expect Skyrim to turn out.

After reading this I can't wait for it come out. So many new features are being added, the dragon part sounds really interesting. Along with what sounds like some type of stock exchange. So glad I already have it payed for.

And the best thing is you don't predefine your skills at the start like in elder scrolls IV haha I have been marking down the days ever since I heard they were bringing it out

You can never go wrong with a console version.

New skyrim update, apparently there was a live stream that people got to watch and I missed it. But someone was nice enough to write what they saw, not going to copy and paste it all because it's a lot, but here is the link.

Never played an Elder Scrolls game before. Heard good and bad things about them so it wasn't at the top of my list. Finally d/led 4 last night and played for like a half hour or so...

A huge amount of detail has been added, gives way more of that warrior feel to it.

Morrowind actually did a fine job raping oblivion all on it's own.
But actually you can go very wrong with consoles. Especially at this point in time it's been mentioned several times how the limits of the six year old consoles are now becoming more and more aware by gamers. Not just in the easily recognized graphics department but in DLC and modding, not to mention the lack of cheats and community.
Even if I didn't have a computer to run Skyrim on ultra-graphics, I'd still take it on PC over a console any-day. The limits of what you can do on a console compared to PC for a game like Skyrim is just astounding.

Morrowind was the better game in my opinion. And Oblivion was actually wonderfully beautiful on my uncles epic PC.

I agree there are limits to consoles, just like any other games that are more PC orientated. Bethesada claimed that they had made modifications to make the gameplay more smooth on console players. I know one thing they were able to do, raise the few distance father without taking a chunk from the fps.
Skyrim will currently be an improvement from oblivion, but still will fail in comparison to the PC version.

With all the good things I hear about the ES's games, I wasn't very impressed with Oblivion... I did only pay for less then an hour so far though. I think I went into it with higher expectations then I should have >_<

I felt the same way, It feels like oblivion is years away from Skyrim, just imagine how the rest of the game is going to look.

Imagine what will happen when skyrim's successor comes out. If it does. Bet we would be like wow skyrim doesn't compare.

Or they will be reusing the exact same engine that was in morrowind, because they liked it better :p

Morrowind had the best armor system. I hate when they took away all the individual pieces. And they simplified the leveling a bit.

Morrowind was badass, that was the first game i played where there was silverware and furniture in the houses. I stole so much silverware in that game

Haha stealing random things was always fun. I enjoyed their alchemy system too. Just put everything in and make all kinds of worthless potions. Great for profit though. I'm wondering if they are gonna make any changes to the armor or leveling in skyrim. Anyone know?
