well, I know rockband/guitar hero all that, but I've never played on in my life, serious.

and for my psp, its my first time getting a rhythm game called 'dj portable max'
somethin like that, but its similar to 'beatmania' if you didn't know.
other than that, I'm just asking, anyone know any good rhythm games besides the 2 famous ones i've mentioned above? 8)

For a handheld or console?
Consoles actually don't have many. Guitar Hero and Rockband ran the market, and some game called Rock Revolution or something tried and failed. You can buy it 5 bucks NEW.
Another one was Power Gig, but it used a real style guitar (5 strings, all the frets) I don' think it did too good.
Then Guitar Hero gave up, so now Rock Band is really the only console rhythm game.

Handhelds, I dunno. I don't know anything about those.

There are a few dance games but the most famous rythm games are probably the ones you guys already mentioned.

My favorite games are Rockband and Guitar Hero. My girlfriend likes to play DDR, but it can be kinda pricey if you want to get an arcade mat (better in the long run).

Elite Beat Agents is another great one for the DS, and there's a game almost like it called osu! for the PC. Plays like it, and there's downloadable songs for it.

ok so on pc there is this game called stepmania its basicly a free version of Dance dance revolution you can set up a pad or if you prefer you can use your keyboard.

people make there own songs for the game complete with backgrounds or moving video.
you will find a lot of existing songs converted for it also.

having said that if you have a psp that is able to run homebrew then you can get game called PSP Revolution. PSP revolution uses the same files for songs that stepmania does though atm it will ignore video and just show a static image.

i really prefer psp revolution over everything similar out there for one its free and 2 you can play the songs you want to play the only thing i suggest is rock some head phones if your playing this as the psp speakers while good just dont cut it for music games.

hmm. I'll have to look into some of these. thanks everyone for your responses. & linux, yes I was talking about both, console & handheld.
man... really? in America only guitarhero/rockband exists? man, I thought there would be more rhythm games for console... Dj hero doesn't even appeal to me, I've seen gameplay vids of it... meh.

I'm not Linux lol, but DJ Hero also got cancelled with Guitar Hero, ran by Activision. Yea it sucks, there are close to no options, which really sucks for a Rhythm game fan like me.
Hopefully someone will come by and blow Rockband out of the water.

my baaaaad! its cause i always look at the icon instead of the name right next to it in BIG letters... I always picture 'red letters'...
yeah, I was doing some research, I cant do DDR no more cause .... arrows get old .... and I'm asian too, I just dont understand I've lost love for that game...
but I might look into stepmania cause you can make custom tracks?
I've also heard about 'taiko drum master' but that gets TIRING. blue & red notes only. still fun though. as for Japan, they got many alternatives to 'beatmania'
its actually BETTER than DJ hero.. it has too much mainstream music and... just not that fun to me, but as for this particular game in Japan, its pretty neat.

@Kenoi yep you can make your own tracks on stepmania then take them across to psp revolution if you have it.

I was coming here to mention this... I played this game at an arcade in Japan with my friend, and it was so much fun xD
