The battle field open beta is out today, everyone who has played it should post their opinion over what you have seen so far.

I would like to know what you think about:
Sound

Environment

Graphics

Game-play

Anything else you can think of....

I'm downloading it right now.

Wish they did it through steam instead of Origin.

Yah I think the whole origin thing is a little overkill! I mean just keep simple through steam. We don't need other clients. STEAM IS GOOD -_-.

Sound: Overall really good, but sometimes it sounds a little static like, but that may be my speakers.

Game-play: All ive done is recon as of yet, but here's what ive noticed. For the recon kit, the triangle cross hairs are the most common. You dont have to adjust for bullet drop, just for lead. The hit detection is a little slow, so for semi auto's ive been doing 2 shots,to guarantee the kill. Only headshots are one shot kills. Also, they added in prone, which has made for a little more camping, but its mostly been tactical thus far. Lastly, theres quite a few CoD tryhards who will try to spawn kill, so just be cautious of that.

I've been playing it for a bit, and it's a call for my PC to be upgraded. I am lagging a lot and don't get to play smoothly as I've seen in videos. They mention the movement to be effortless, but I rather like the little stiffness that they had in other BF games. It seems like MW to me.

They should have used another map than the operation metro, we want to see epic vehicle battles and big places.

Graphics: Stunning, just stunning. Console graphics is somewhat equal to medium on pc, so nothing special.
The graphics of medium is okey, but once you set it up to High the graphics starts to look like they are supposed to. Knock it up to ultra and it basicly smoothes and improoves everything the High setting adds.

Sound: Absolutely amazing, the detail of it is incredible.

Gameplay: Just hit Rank 20 on PC and find it extremely great. there are certain details that the community have some problems with, but hopefully these will be sorted out before release. At any rate very few consider these things anywhere near deal-breakers.

You serious? They're recommending 6950 for high settings, so I'm hoping to push a med-high mix out of my 6850 and I just don't see consoles getting the same quality (I'd expect they match low settings at best)..

Edit: I'm not being sarcastic or anything. What I've seen of the consoles so far doesn't look that great and if that's what I can expect to get on PC it's disappointing.

Am I the only guy that’s nervous for the consoles version of the multiplayer? The graphics are pretty decent, ive been hearing rumors the demo is running in 720p which I hope is true. Right now it’s at low settings at best on consoles compared to PC .(ive seen both in person)

The multiplayer is extremely buggy from extended necks that stretch to 10 feet when laying down to weird choppy animations when jumping over stuff. Constantly falling under the map and not being able to zoom in and run sometimes. (which can be corrected in game)

Yea people tell me it’s a beta but guys the game comes out in 21 days and I’m sure Operation Metro isn’t the only map with bugs. Delay?

You know that they won update the beta version, Dice say that most of the bugs reported already have been taken care of.

This is directly taken from battlelog about the beta.

"Thank you for playing the Open Beta and making the final game better!

We are very excited to see so many gamers join our Battlefield 3 Open Beta. Here’s an update on the Open Beta from DICE General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson.

I want to give you an overview of how the Open Beta is helping us shape a fantastic final game, what we are implementing based on your feedback, and how the Open Beta will help us deliver a robust gaming environment from day one.

The Open Beta is a true Beta
The Battlefield 3 Open Beta is based on software that is more than one month old. We need to test the new back end dedicated server structure we’ve built. Not only have we built a new game engine, but an entirely new back end system so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dedicated servers on all platforms.

Just like normal procedure when releasing a game, the Open Beta has had long lead times due to testing, certification, and setting up. This means that the code you are now playing is actually quite early and not representative of the final game.

We had to do this in order to have as many people testing as possible, in order to ensure a top quality experience when the game is released. However, we’re confident in the Battlefield formula and confident that our fans will support us in order to make Battlefield 3 better.

Dedicated servers require dedicated testing
The biggest reason for running the Open Beta is to stress test our servers and back end. Already, we are seeing 6 times the number of simultaneous players in the Battlefield 3 Open Beta compared to the Beta for Battlefield: Bad Company 2! The fact that Battlefield 3 is clearly our biggest game launch ever by a magnitude of 6 makes it doubly important to test everything.

We are constantly updating the News section on Battlelog with information on what we are fixing from Open Beta to final. We appreciate your time and your feedback. The data and feedback from the Open Beta will not only directly affect the final game of Battlefield 3, but its future development and support.

We’re heading out on the road this week to let journalists experience all aspects of Battlefield 3. Stay tuned for their previews, and stay tuned for the final game on October 25th. The final game will look, play and sound better than the Open Beta. You have helped making sure of that.

Karl Magnus Troedsson

Well you got to remember that they add in a couple of effects on the console version like something that looks like motion blur to remove the strain from the consoles GPU's.

So after all Medium on PC will still look better than the graphics on Consoles.

Also, Graphics on the BETA is capped at medium with a few of the options on high. Even though it shows you can set it higher it is indeed capped.

I got myself a GTX560 card today and it ran the maximum that the beta allows Full HD flawlessly, and it looked great.

So if you want to test out medium-high setting you want to get out of BF3, then i suggest you just run BF3 and put everything to full and then set the resolution you want and see if you're PC can handle it.

Paec: I had some problems with origin on launch day but if you still have problems then im afraid it might be client side.
