I'm posting this from dili's computer... I seem to be having issues with my laptop charging ._.
The charger light is on, the light where it plugs into the computer is on, and there is another light near the front of my computer with a little lightning bolt signaling whether it is plugged in or not, and that is on, too.
I taped the charger in and that sort of worked, but not really. I suppose I am going to order a new charger, but does anyone have any ideas to check if it's something with the computer and not the charger?

its more then likely a loose connection in the charger wire, this happened to me a while back and i completely stripped the wire down and reconnected all the wiring but by the sounds of it it could be the port u plug it into. its funny that the laptop charging light is on because if it wasnt charging it wouldnt be on ?

Best way to tell is to try another charger. There are tools to test the power source on your laptop but that might end up costing you more than buying another charger.
If you lived near me, I probably could have given you my universal laptop charger - I bought it years ago for fixing laptops, it has like every kind of connection for every kind of laptop.

Yeah, I'm just ordering a new charger to check and see... it's only $8 and I have a gift certificate for amazon I need to finish using, anyway. If it's not the charger, then I will go from there @__@

the internal connection within the charger is damaged, it happened to me on my old lappy. just tape the cable onto the laptop lid to hold it in place whilst u wait for a new one

Wow, $8 for a charger is an awesome deal :) My ferrets ate though mine right after I bought my laptop.... cost me $100 for a new one O_O

Yeah, I did the tape thing already (mentioned it in my first post), but it didn't really work.
Now it's saying it's 100% and fully charged and is working -_-;;;
I don't trust it :|
It seems pretty certain that it's my charger - the adapter is making a weird noise, and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Dili was inspecting it for me and we've pretty much come to that conclusion. We'll see when my new charger gets in for sure, I guess :P It's a cheap charger, so I am not surprised. I've had it a while, though p:
edit: right now it isn't lighting up at all, so yeah :/

I almost took my dad's laptop apart because he had a similar issue and I thought it was the power source.
Charger is definitely the cheaper and easier fix. Hope the new charger works for you.

Thanks. For the record, I'm not going to be able to be very active right now... obviously, I can't use my computer, and I don't want to keep using dili's all the time. Also, dili and I are going up to Vermont on Saturday for like 10 days. My family is flying out and we're gonna be with them and stuff. I'll have my charger by then (I hope), and we'll have internet, so we'll still be around, but maybe not as much as usual.

Nice! Glad to hear that was the issue.
Something so simple can create such a headache.
(also moved thread to computer help, the discussions might help people in the future future future future)

Oh, sure :)
And yeah, thankfully it was a cheap fix. I was worried it might be my computer, because when I move the screen it turns purple and crazy and is probably on its way out... :/ It's getting older, but hopefully I can keep squeezing some more life out of it.

I'm doing that with my Lenovo. I use it every day but the battery is dead. Lasts no more than 5 minutes without a charger. It's about 5 years old. But when it does stop working, I'm harvesting every piece of it to put in other broken laptops I have lying around.
I wish my fix was as cheap, but even generic batteries cost like $90.
My dad's laptop case was the same as yours. I Think I already mentioned that earlier in this thread.
