Last year, Steam Ran a Similar Survey and I posted about it. You can find the thread here: Steam Hardware Software Survey: October 2010 - Gamers Forum (http://www.gamers-forum.com/showthread.php?t=17174)

This year, the survey was revealed and interesting stats can be found, actual survey is located here: Steam Hardware & Software Survey (http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/)

Compared to last year, Win7 users increased by about 8% while Windows XP dropped by about 9%.

Users with 4gb RAM also increased. And AMD and Intel users stayed the same.

Here are some stats that I found most interesting, they are similar to last year's:

Windows 7 64 bit - 41.28%
Windows XP 32 bit - 17.82%
Windows Vista 64 bit - 12.77%

5+ gb RAM - 25%
4gb RAM - 29%
3gb RAM - 25.48%
2gb RAM - 16.3%

Intel CPU users - 72.37%
AMD CPU users - 27.63%

12 CPU - 0.01% (I wish I was this guy)
4 CPU - 42.7%
2 CPU - 48.7%
1 CPU - 5.5%

Nvidia - Geforce 9800 is the most popular GPU still

76.7% of Gamers have Mics
18.3% still does not

40.6% are on 2mbit line
18% are on 10mbit
1.36% are still on 56k....

Firefox Stays at 63.05%
Microsoft Internet Explorer stays at 19.82%
Google Chrome stays at 11.56%

Norton AntiVirus - 1.78% -
iTunes - 30.73% - expected this to be higher
TeamSpeak - 17.99%
Ventrilo - 17.38% - same with TS and Vent

Most of the statistics are the same as last year, looks like the same people answered the surveys.

yeah, really weird that vent and TS are that low. Can't believe 76% have mics and only 40% have TS and or Vent. Surprised at the AMD percent as well, from what I've been hearing AMD is more for gaming then intel is. Guess steam has more casual gamers on it.

Can't say I'm too surprised at the vent and ts. Lots of people use skype now, because it's easier than having to put in servers and port numbers.
Also, steam has its own voice chat and games like tf2 have in game voice chat.

here is one for $770:

Newegg.com - AMD Opteron 6168 Magny-Cours 1.9GHz 12 x 512KB L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache Socket G34 115W 12-Core Server Processor OS6168WKTCEGOWOF (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819105267&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Processors+-+Server-_-AMD-_-19105267)

It's a server CPU, but I definitely wouldn't mind putting that in my pc.
