Doing a research project on gamers. Could you answer a few questions please?

Hello all,

I am new to the forum but not to gaming. I am taking a college course called youth cultures where we are required to write a research paper about a certain youth subculture. I decided to choose gaming because it is very familiar to me and I enjoy learning about the community. As part of my research question I must evaluate the differences between professional and leisure gaming and would really appreciate you answering a few questions about yourself and how you feel about the subculture in its professional and casual aspects. If you could please answer these questions I would really appreciate it.

I played in amateur leagues such as CAL but not professional.

Would you prefer to play professionally or just for fun?
Competitive games make it fun, so I would prefer professional.

How many hours a day do you generally play video games?
Weekdays anywhere from 2-8
Weekends anywhere form 2-16
A huge range probably isn't helpful, So I'll just say an average of about 6 hours a day.

Any other comments that you may have towards professional and leisure gaming.
Professional gaming for me would be perfect, I'd love to get the chance to play on a professional team. I haven't even played in any type of league in a few years. I've just recently have been getting back into hardcore gaming, definitely going to try an join a professional team this year for MW3. I'm not much of a leisure gamer, even single player offline games I'm always checking achievements on xbox live to see if I'm ahead of my friends. Competitive gaming as been around me all my life and I don't plan on straying away from it.

I love to play hardcore, my first ever online game was Halo 2 which I played passionately until the server was disconnected. I then moved onto Gears of War and played on game battles until the Modern Warfare games came out. Now I enjoy playing Black Ops and MW3, although I'm still getting used to the maps on MW3, they can be tricky at times.

Gaming is an acquired taste...anyone can buy a game here and there and play it then return it or sell it, but it takes a true hardcore gamer to play an mmo for 40 hours straight with no sleep purely due to the fact that you are talking with AWESOME people and playing an AWESOME game and your guildies are counting on you!!
