I wanted to get this thread up earlier but I’ve been slowly transitioning everything over to the new server. As of yesterday, everything is moved over and all ties to the old server have been broken. And this brings us to our new server. And as you may have already noticed, the random apache outages no longer exist (the old server was truly bugged).

This current server is being sponsored by Dark Star Communications (Ventrilo Server Hosting, Ventrilo Servers from DarkStar. Sign-up for a free-trial today! (http://www.darkstarllc.com/)) with the server provided by Ubiquity Servers (Dedicated Servers | Colocation | Virtual Private Servers - Ubiquity Servers (https://www.ubiquityservers.com/)). This is the first ever server sponsor for gamers forum in our 5+ year history and we are grateful for them. They have provided us a bigger and better server.

I won’t go into any deep hardware specs, but it’s an Intel Xeon 2.33GHz cpu and we have about 2gb RAM with plenty of space and bandwidth. Other than this, all the software installed is similar to the old server because it’s all we need to run this forum.

So far this server has been great. It has already proven to be better than our old server and let’s hope it keeps up for years to come!

I would like to thank Dark Star Communications and Ubiquity Servers for sponsoring Gamers Forum. It lifts a huge financial pressure point from the forum and now we can use any money earned for bettering the forum rather than to upgrade where it’s hosted.

Since Dark Star provides both Vent and TS Servers, I will try to get something with them soon. Since my home server is currently broken, I will outsource some services to these companies.

If you have any questions, concerns, or just would like to comment on anything relating to the Forum’s new server, please feel free to post here.

Awesome! I'm glad everything is settled, and a working Vent or TS server would be great :3

Thanks for all your hard work, Linux :)

Thanks for everything, man. And the new server. Really shows how passionate you are about your little creation here, and care about all of us now, and those in the past who helped make the forum what it is today 5 years later.

Thanks everyone for the support! We would not be here without you. And our sponsors saw potential in the forum and that's why they provided us the server and I am very thankful for it and it gives me even more motivation to take the forum to the future.

But first, I need to get through my finals and procrastinating with my term papers.

Between Reddit, Skyrim, and GF, I haven't done my correspondence schooling in a week now almost. A bigger and better GF would eat up my 2 year deadline no problem.

Anything to help with procrastination.

And I will see what I can do about the TS and Vent servers this week. They will most likely be temporary (in the long run at least) because I plan on getting my home server up again. Not sure when that will happen. I will be turning my current pc into a server (after I build me another one since mine is pretty outdated right now hardware-wise).
