Since FFXII has the ability to not only make any of the characters your "main" character, but also allows the option to equip each person with any kind of weapon, any armor, any accessory, and so on, provided you are licensed appropriately, there's a lot of room for customization.

This thread is devoted to the discussion of those choices.

Who do you control the most, or made your "main character"? And how do you have each member licensed, if there is any order?

I will begin:

My main character is Basch. He's always in my active party, and consequently 7-8 levels above the party average. Fran is my super-mage, knowing all magicks. Basch is my super-warrior, knowing all weapons. Balthier is my craftyman, knowing all techniques. Vaan is split over techniques and a decent variety of weapons. Penelo is split over magicks and a decent spread of weapons. And Ashe is my fashion-nazi, knowing all accessories.

For a second I thought this was FF13. and i'm like yea you can make anybody your main but only at the end of the game..

anyways, I have Vaan as my main, Fran for long range and healing, and basch for melee. I have some magic on Vaan too, but mostly use melee attacks...I just use the weapons that the game decided the characters should use lol. I didnt feel the need to change that

I usually run with Penelo, Ashe, and Vaan. I don't ever use the Balthier because he got so far behind in level and I don't want to grind him back to standard.

Thats how I am...I used my main 3 the entire game and I don't feel like grinding the others up. It sucks when my main people all die though...

Damnit Veritas! Now I want an HD version of FFXII to come out.

Anywho I always used Bash as the tank, Ashe as the warmage, and penelo as healies.

Thats how I am...I used my main 3 the entire game and I don't feel like grinding the others up. It sucks when my main people all die though...


Biggest problem I had with that game. Characters don't even get a fraction of the exp from battles they aren't in. Really made it frustrating during hard boss battles.

Also, on an unrelated note, Legend of Dragoon is amazing
