Am going to get a electric guitar this week, and was wondering if anybody knew any online material I could print or something so I could start learning how to play. Any books I guess that have helped you learn would help too. I just need some books or material that can teach me the notes and fingering, cause I want to move onto solos and crap later on :)

Am looking into a ibanez off ebay for my first guitar, so hope I win it...

Already play the trumpet, so thought I would add on to my skills, plus a girl I like likes guitarists hehe :P. I always liked the solos on rock, and I want to do some myself.

Anyways, thanks.

I will, I always thought of playing the drums :P

the drums are one of the hardest instruments to play since you play with all four limbs, im gonna open a band probably early or mid next year when i figure out my time schedule - im either gonna drum or play guitar (assuming i get better) lol :D

maybe if u get good, u can come by and we'll practice together lol :D

Im a pretty fast learner, shouldnt be too hard since I already play an instrument, and have played a guitar before slightly.

im a fast learner too but i have small fingers so its a bit harder for me to get hang of everything on the guitar - but if u get good just make a video and put it on youtube :D

hmm if you got small fingers apparently you would be better at playing base than electric

That was the plan hehe :P, get a vid on youtube.

This is more for fun right now than playing public anywhere

very true cuz it has less strings, i was playing bass a little bit in junior high school along with drums and was getting good but it wasnt my guitar, a friend was showing me and after graduation, no more lessons lol

i did adjust to fingering in electric but its still a bit more tough

i got tabs from

becasue lots oftab sights are getting shut down, but that ones still good.
learning scales are goooood for beefin up the solos there all over the internet

acoustic and electric are basically the same thing, except electric is cooler with those effects pedal and sounds are played with magnets and not a hollow shell :D

i play acoustic and electric. I'm not very good yet, but just to let you know. it is HARD work. and unless you practice for hours EVERY DAY it's gunna take you longer than you think, unless your naturally good of course. But look for starting books and everything, those helped me the most, right now though i just look up tabs for my favorite songs and play them, and i attempt to make them up.

lol you're in for a lot of work if you stick with it, but it is a lot of fun though :D

well most people learn on an acoustic because it is cheaper and roughly the same principles as the electric. Then when they can play pretty good they usually go buy an electric guitar and rock hard :p

yeaah, its easy to learn songs you know, because you already have tha beat. i started writing alot of my own stuff for about a year now, once you learn guitar tho, other band instraments, like keyboards and srums become a whole lot easyier

do drums really become easier if you learn guitar lol. I dont see th e logic in that because you use all your limbs unlike in guitar.

well yeah, because once you play long enough you get a real feel for msuic and pretty much anything is easier on instraments,or at least it was for me, unless you have abslutely no natural talent at all

I gotta say, it's spelt bass, not base.

Anyway, I play guitar and have been for a few years, I heartily recommend buying/acquiring Guitar Pro 5 - because it's an amazingly good program, and you can download tabs of whole songs and it'll play it back for you - helps a lot with learning songs.
