So the registration between Bioware, LA, and EA was brutal to get through. But this game looks pretty promising ont he grounds of it delivering solid RPG storytelling from Bioware in an MMO setting.

So far it claims to be the fastest growing MMO since launch on the 20th. My friends already have a pretty large guild going for the sith, and I plan on playing an Imperial agent first. I'm also very interested to see the story arc for the storm trooper.

The dark side is going to be pretty popular from what I can tell.

In my opinion it is as good as its hype. Ah well, after playing it a bit Im thoroughly addicted.

The plot really does not feel like an MMO, its closer to a good RPG, and by that I mean it has actual storytelling and dialog. Because Bioware developed the game its very similar to their previous games. So if you liked KOTOR, Jade Empire, Mass Effect or Dragon Age you will probably enjoy the story telling.

And I am a fan of the gameplay in general. After I hit lvl 10 and started doing group story missions the game just blew me away. The group missions are done better than any other MMO. Jedi tearing through mobs with force powers and light-sabers, your support units taking cover. There is a lot of emphasis on diving into cover if you are a gun user. It really fits into the Star Wars theme very well when you dive into cover and trade fire with the enemy. It also adds more strategy to gameplay as in most MMo games you either have the lvl and skills to handle a mob or you dont. In this case you can handle harder mobs solo with effective use of cover and it makes you think twice about how to approach combat.

Effectively this is an MMO you could solo and feel like you where playing an RPG like KOTOR or NWK2, but you can also bring your friends along. So I am excited to see if they can handle raids and end game content in a way that is also interesting and fresh.

How much is the monthly fee?
Whats the level cap and how fast do you level?
Is there group quests like dungeons?
My only MMO experience is WoW, will I find it hard to adjust?

Is there a auction house/whats the trading like?
Hows the community?
Are there solo options?
How are the classes?

TONS, I'm playing on RP servers, doing mostly solo stuff until I go on a Heroic, then I just write in gen chat and find someone about to do the same one.
How are the classes?
I like the story lines a lot, the Trooper one for me so far is my least favorite

Not as many as I expected. They're always doing patches, so they're fixing them almost as soon as I find them.
Is there PvP?
Yep, even PvP dedicated servers.
How big is the world compared to WoW?
not sure, haven't played WoW in a LONG time

I was up until 2am and didn't realize it....
Are there mounts?
You get space ships, speeders and stuff... not animals like in Wow, but yeah.
Are there guilds/clans?
YES!!!!!
When does the game take place (before/in-between which of the movies)?
I haven't really noticed a story line that I can place in the movies now that you mention it.

The only thing that is really grinding my gears.... there are virtually NO flirt options for female characters.... it's kinda sad.

I haven't tried this but I've heard it's terribly similar to WoW. Some have said it's slightly refined and has a whole new story line but I don't think that's enough for me to give it a try :\

It feels like you're going in your own direction in The Old Republic, whereas WoW just feels like you have to go to places, for the reason "just because". There's some awesome drive behind levelling in The Old Republic, and that's one of the key factors that separates this game from WoW.

WoW imploded, let's not speak of WoW any more. It's time for new games with new ideas to take centre stage.

I have no idea where you heard that, but that isn't true whatsoever.

The game upon release was more successful than WoW when that was first released, in regards to the fact that there where hardly any major bugs whatsoever. There is a lot of content in the game, and the effort that's gone into the world design and the dialogue is second to none.

You should give it a try. It is much better than RIFT in my opinion.

I'll give it a try at some point given that i was a huge SW fan. But from the youtube videos i've seen the combat seems like something i'd grow tired of really quickly. Sort of liked that you could take cover and such and was insanely impressed that they have voiced almost everything. O.o

Oh, Im used to being smacked alright! :P Actually, Ive done all specs in WoW. But what I love most about ToR… is that it’s nothing like WoW. Its amazing lol I mean obviously the tank/heals/dps is the same concept, but other then that its not the same at all. What I love about my char being able to fully DPS and heal at the same time… is that its constant action, which is what I neeeeeed. lol

I'm level 43 now, and when I left Hoth for Belsavis I got my little Archaeology dude, called Talos Drellik :) He made my companion count go up to 5! Now I've got lots of people to do my crew skill missions! It's fun times.

Ha, indeed. It's far easier than the long slog of levelling your trades in WoW, as that was just frustrating stuff. At least in The Old Republic it gives you the option to send your companions and/or do it all yourself whilst exploring.

Exactly! :D I actually didn’t mind working on profesh’s in WoW…. but my problem was outleveling the areas I needed to be before the professions were leveled up. So Id move on and then be in too high of an area and then just never work on them again >_<

Well at high levels you could just take 5 minutes to solo a low level and get a good base in three or so runs. Leatherworking you have to buy your mats (which are never on the AH in my server) or get skinning and farm low levels that drop no more than 1 skin that you need. And recipes get expensive at high levels

I agree, Artifice is a ***** ! I haven't run any instances yet. Level 40 atm, but could have been 50 but no time to run anything lol. I need my 5th companion.

I hit 27 this weekend. I havent done anythinggggg but quest. Playing with my fiance in that aspect sucks because he loves to level grind and I prefer to just go slow and soak everything in :P But once I start PvPing I wont stop... and he knows that haha I did just get my third companion though! A Devilonian :D

Sorry in advance, not meaning to double post but am meaning to bump it D:

So…I’ve got two questions…… Is anyone playing Bounty Hunter? and Does anyone use Mako?

First of all, Mako sucks huge hairy gross wrinkly balls….. she is the most craptastic healer everrrrrr. Anyone else have this issue? I looked online for some tips and what I found was half and half. Half of the people love her and half hate her…. the only tips I found were ones that suggested things that I was already doing and didn’t help. I keep her well geared and I also have all of her fighting attacks turned OFF, healing stance turned ON as well as all heal spells and she still sucks. Despite the fact that she has all attacks set to off, she still tries to fight when people need healed- I don’t get it. Is there some way to force her to ONLY heal that Im missing?

As for bounty hunter…. I find Im getting a little bored with her. The skills are kind of generic, and well…. meh. What bothers me about her is that Im having trouble keeping my heat down. Anyone have any suggestions? Im finding when I solo quests I could easily beat with another char, Im losing with her because my heat is max’d and the cooldown on the vent heat ability takes forever….

I haven't played a BH yet, but all I hear is Mako being the must annoying companion there is. Yet they are some that say she is quiet good. So if you don't like Mako don't use her lol. I am still learning the classes and roles. So far I know Assassin (Mine) and Sorcerer, that's about it haha.

Well as of right now I amt Lvl. 49 1/2. I can't wait to get home hit 50, turn in all my Merc/WarZ Comm for Bags and hope for some gear, and run some heroics !

Haha She is pretty annoying. Not only is she a bad healer but she *hates* every decision I make lol :P I only use her because I play with my fiancé and he uses a tank companion, so having a healer is pretty much the best option versus me using my DPS companion, but MAN she’s horrid. She’ll keep shooting until one of us is almost dead and THEN start healing -___- Oh well lol Figured Id check on here to see if anyone had any suggestions ;)

Whaaaaaa? Zomg, level- gogogogo! So close :) Im scared to hit 50…. but then again I always hate hitting level cap in every game I play xD

I just hit 50 this week ! Now I got to complete my Class quests and then go to Ilum haha. I really haven't done questing at all, mostly pvping. When I hit 50 I was 49 Valor lol. Now it's even 50 - 50.

I just realized last night how much money you really need for high level skills and whatnot O_o I guess I better stop wasting it on crew skills LOL
