So, I downloaded the FFXIII-2 demo. Anybody else do so?
My thoughts are pretty much: This is what FXIII should have been in the first place. Even this short demo was a lot more fun than XIII in its entirety. For starters, the plot is already more interesting. I hated the plot in XIII. Next, there are actual towns, more or less, and you can communicate with NPCS. Next, the battle system is the same, but you can summon monsters to fight with you, which I think is pretty cool. The game also isn't as linear (well, it seems that way but who knows. Square says thats one of the things they really want to fix)
My only problem with it is...well, its still FFXIII, and that game left such a bad taste in my mouth, plus it brings back bad memories of the time period I played it during. However, those are things Square can't fix. From what I can tell, they actually managed a much better game here. Of course, we don't know for certain, and this is just speculation, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Looking forward to playing it.

I actually didn't mind FFXIII. I mean, it wasn't what I was expecting and wasn't the greatest.... but I guess I didnt *hate* the game. Ill def be checking out this demo though! And thank god they tried, or hopefully tried, to fix the linear aspect.... that was just horrible.

In the demo, there's like a "camp" and theres a bunch of ruins you can explore. I'm sure the story is still linear but at least the areas you explore are more than just a straight line.

When I think FF the last thing that should come to mind is "linear". Im okay with a little linear... but FFXIII was just ridonk lol But Im def glad there's some exploration options. Now I wanna go home and check it out >.>

well, i mean, all of the final fantasy games are relatively linear, as opposed to something like skyrim.

Yea that’s def true, especially when compared to something like Skyrim lol But, I mean FF games are def linear in terms of following a quest line, but at least offered exploration as well. FFXIII was like literally, completely linear in every aspect. Is 2 supposed to be an all new game/story line? Or some sort of continuation?

you control lightning and lightning's sister throughout the game, it takes place a few years after XIII i think

FF really has disappointed me since 10. XIII was a really bad game (in my opinion) as far as being a part of the FF series. I'd totally be done for some remakes of the classics at this point to get people interested again.
EDIT: May check out the demo for the lulz, or the funz. We will see.

Demo is like a good version of XIII.
And, they're doing FFX over in HD for the PS3 and PSVita

Yeah I saw that. However, that game looks nice anyways . I was thinking more along the line of ff5-7 then skip 8 and remake 9 haha.
EDIT: Played the demo, was alright.

FFXHD has no release date yet.
I personally would love to see a version of FF5 and 6 for the DS, either they way they did FFIII and FFIV, or the way they did Chrono Cross, and then an HD port of FFXII. I actually really enjoyed 12 but it was compressed beyond belief. Would love to experience it in full HD and widescreen

I am with you on all of these points. 12 was pretty awesome if you put a decent amount of time into it. 5 and 6 are almost the best of the series.

you know, I kind of did like playing FF12. I played it a lot in 2010. if only they would have it on the psn cause of the release of ps2 classics

Played the demo and loved it, very happy that Square listened to the issues everyone had with the original and made the correct changes.
I also picked up the game on the 31st.....and well i have yet to put it down lol its definitely worth a play.

I've been hearing this game is worse/no better than XIII (not really surprising, wasn't expecting much), so I'll be waiting ti I can find it for 10-15 bucks before I pick this one up.
Also, I hear there will likely be a XIII-3.. I wish they'd just focus on Versus..

Where have you heard that, from what Ive read its what FFXIII should have been in the first place.

Well, I can't link you to conversations I've had, so here's the metacritic links for both games:
Final Fantasy XIII Critic Reviews for PlayStation 3 at Metacritic.com (http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/final-fantasy-xiii/critic-reviews)
Final Fantasy XIII-2 Critic Reviews for PlayStation 3 at Metacritic.com (http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-3/final-fantasy-xiii-2/critic-reviews)
As you can see, so far most of the well know critics have given XIII-2 a lower score than they gave the original.
A quick list for comparison:
Reiewer - XIII score - XIII-2 score
Gamespot: 8.5 > 7.5
IGN: 89 > 80
Game Informer: 93 > 80
1UP: 91 > 75
GT: 86 < 88
Certainly not bad scores, and reviews aren't everything and purchases shouldn't be based on them entirely, but considering how much I disliked XIII and how XIII-2 has been received in comparison.. SE got my money day 1 when XIII was released, won't happen again with XIII-2.

I would say there are alot more positives compared to 13 but there are some issues with 13-2 but there is no way i would say its bad. I think it is with out a doubt worth a try.

I personally think 7, 8 and 10 are the ones Square took the most time with. Those games had the coolest battles with big bosses and even cooler special attacks. Since then everything has just been too plain for me
