Just wondering if you guys have an active chat box for the forum? You know like a little chat room or tiny chat?

We have an IRC channel; here is the information for it:

IRC Information Guide - Gamers Forum (http://www.gamers-forum.com/showthread.php?t=19201)

It's not very active lately, though. When it was more active, we used to occasionally all get together on tinychat and we had a lot of fun times :) It could happen again, I'm sure.

I don't think so, but you can subscribe to threads, which will email you whenever a reply is posted in one. I think the default setting subscribes you to anything you post in, but I can't remember. You can turn it off, as well.

Linux (the admin) would know better than I - he'll probably post in here later, or you could try and PM him. :)

You can't get emails just when you're quoted sorry :( software isn't smart enough to recognize that.

Although that would be pretty useful.

i was only in 1 tiny chat but very fun time how i got my current username and i think if there was a chat bar it would be way more active than irc would because people forget about the irc they wouldent forget about chat bar but i think there hould be a limit on it like i you re under ten days you cant go on or also under 30 real posts.

I would prefer a chatbox over IRC myself, simply because it would be more convenient having a live chat option on the forum itself and not having to manage another window.

I'm lazy /shrug

There has to be some fixes to the chatboxes in the new version of vBul. Let's wait and see ;o

I think LiNuX just hates chat boxes ;D

It's okay. I still love you LiNuX <3

People have asked for chat boxes in the past, but I think it's been rejected because it was thought it might detract from people actually posting?

I'm not sure; I actually might like a chat box myself... but I don't really know.

I'm pretty for it now. It's obvious that the IRC isn't going to go back to how it was and it'd be nice to just be able to all chat together, maybe cut down on some forum spam.

I like the chatbox idea but I don't think it'll work on my phone, which I've now connected to the irc

That's one of the reasons I love xenforo <3

It could be partially achievable by opening another tab and using an embedded chat client on a page. Personally I think using in forum chatbioxes do draw attention away from the forums, however I've noticed having chatrooms on a separate page usually decreases the chances of that happening.

IRC always goes quiet, however it's up to the users to keep it active, there's no saying a chatbox wouldn't be active for a week then be quiet like the IRC..

I think if an IRC chatroom had a nice web client, it would definitely be more popular, it also depends on the server, GameSurge is huge, so naturally the exposure of the channel is limited, on a smaller network the channels exposure would be increased thus more people would see it.

Just my two cents :P (I'm 100% for the IRC <3)
