Pascal's Calc was the first 'computer' back in 1600 something (I want to say 1640s). Then after that you had tabulating machines in late 1800s used for the Census. That's where IBM came from. And tons of stuff in between.

Very few of my teachers in high school seemed to know what they were talking about. All the math teachers were a joke. Horrible at there jobs. Same with science, except chemistry, my chemistry teacher was probably just best teacher I ever had. I learned more in his class about everything then my entire high school career.

I find that engineering teachers are generally pretty good. Most are actual engineers. Mine is a chinaman who worked in airplane manufacturing and is working at becoming a pilot.
