The forum has finally been upgraded to vb4. A special thanks goes out to Foof for providing us with the vb4 license!

The forum is still being worked on, a lot of features will not work at this moment. Please allow me some time to get everything settled. This default theme is the only one we have available, I will add another one which will serve as our main.

The GFP system has been completely removed, I'll slowly bring it back but at least not for a few days. The arcade is up and running. As mentioned before the upgrade, the imagehosting and bank will be complete removed and they have been.

If you have any questions while I'm still working on this, please feel free to use this thread to get any concerns out of the way.

Thanks to everyone for the patience during this procedure. If you experience any errors or any other issues, please feel free to contact me.

i like it but miss the daark theme will there be a look alike sometime soon dark forums look way more badass plus kinda hurt my eyes but still good

No but really, thanks for working so hard getting the forum updated. :)

Really hope a new theme will become available soon, all the white just does not fit well with peoples signatures and such and my eyes do not approve. :P

Other than that everything looks great, i see a few bugs here and there but i expected that, in this writing moment i must say i REALLY like that "Autosave" thing that comes up every once in a while, that will without a doubt come in handy. By the way, do you have a list of the improovements that comes with this update? So we can all benefit the most from your work with this update. :)

And one more thing, do you want us to make a thread and report any bugs we come across or do you have it all under control? :)

And the new theme will be a dark one, hopefully will have it up by tonight.

Well like the others: Thanks for upgrading the forum but the color... I just like that dark background with Samus, Master Chief and Altair more. I hope you'll add that soon LiNuX. :)

Unfortunately, can't add the Dark GF theme anymore, it's incompatible with this version of the forum, all of our old themes are actually.

Just installed DarkVision GF. It should be set as a current default theme and you can still switch between them by going to the lower right corner of any page and changing between the theme. The default vB theme is still available to use.

If anyone has any changes to colors, let me know, I'd be happy to make certain changes (like we had for the original Dark GF and Dark GF Blue themes).

Since I am still learning the ins and outs of the new software, I will not be adding any more themes for now. I will search for a few good ones but can't make any promises on when they will go up. If you happen to find a good vB theme that you believe will go well with Gamers Forum, feel free to let me know.

The only error i've seen so far is that in the User CP window on the right, below my avatar it says the following:

"Error: Header Template is Customised
:1
:9"

And then there is the rep bar and logout button

Edit: Oh just noticed one more, in the "Friends" tab on the right, it displays commercial links instead of actual friends.

That's not a bug. You probably had some part of a form filled out and tried to switch to another page, the message was just so you knew you were letting go of your changes.

Im liking the changes and im not, but then again it wasn't meant for a cell phone lol. I like the new quick reply and the look of the threads. Thanks foof for the moolah and big thanks to the big man for makin this happen!

vb4 actually comes with a default cell phone theme so I'm not sure if you're looking at the forum through that, it definitely looks different through that theme.

Oh no clue. I think it may be, but the home page looks right messed upfor me. The thread view looks more like a mobile theme now you mention it.

Bad news is that the current theme seems to be having a ton of issues. As some of you may have noticed, vb4 comes with blogs and this theme does not work with it. It also has limitations throughout the board. So I am not sure if this will remain our main. I am hoping the creators update the theme soon to keep up.

Another small issue

When posting a video link you cant see what you type or copy/paste into the url window, it's there but it is just invisible until you mark it.
So minor issue since you can still post the videos. :)

Yeah that's one of the other issues with this theme.

Another small issue

When posting a video link you cant see what you type or copy/paste into the url window, it's there but it is just invisible until you mark it.
So minor issue since you can still post the videos. :)

The theme creators put up an update yesterday, I missed it. Going to update the theme today and hopefully it fixes all the visual issues we have been seeing.

edit:

Did the quick update, it fixed the login issue where you weren't able to see the username/pw being typed in. Same with most of the blog and theme chooser. It's not a 100% perfect but it's a lot better than it was last night.

There is also a great new button up in the topleft bar that says "What's new?" that also let's you see all new posts.

I have to say, I was originally really for this theme, but actually using it... I dunno. I prefer the old one :( It may just be me having to get used to the change, though. Also the internet here is freaking awful for some reason lately, and I have to refresh pages like 10 times, so it's an additional, unrelated annoyance -.- So far, I am not really sold on this theme, though. We'll have several choices in the end, though!

edit: with knibbler's post, maybe the forum itself is also slow. But our internet has been sucking, so I can't give much input on that front.

The forum is still just as fast I think, page instantly loads up when I click on it at least.

But yeah, about the theme, I'm starting to dislike it as well. Everything seems smaller in scale IMO, the font seems a lot smaller, and the extra space on the left and right side of the forum bothers me. I don't know if it's bigger then it use to be or just the color. It may be my resolution being too big as well, but I don't remember the problem before. I'm probably just being picky though.

Yea, but i think it's allready said that this is to be a temporary theme. Atleast it's alot better than the all white/grey one in my oppinion. :)

I mean it looks nice and all until you discover the sidebar on the right. The theme is just too big. It doesnt minimise the forum enough to even be considered a mobile theme.
Maybe if you were browsing on an iPad it would be different but alas, for browsing on the iPhone it is just still too big.

The forum seems to be running a tad slower than what I remember..
Nothing to major, it might even just be my connection.
Just thought i'd point it out.

Also I noticed blogs were being deleted..
Is this feature not to be used yet?

I haven't had any issues and no one else has complained yet. I know the forum was slow right after the upgrade, but I had to run counter scripts, but I haven't been able to do anything today so I can't say if it was the forum for sure or if it's just you.

As for the blogs, we're just not using it yet. I turned it off at first because it didn't work with our theme and everything was unreadable. But now that the issue is fixed, I will release it soon. I just need a few more days to play around with the back end of things.

Unfortunately, can't go back to the old one, and no vb4 version was created for it :( and yes, we will have several choices in the end, and we can all vote on a main theme.

This theme is a fixed theme, which I didn't actually notice until you just mentioned it...I like fluid themes much better because it stretches and fits everything. Going to see if I can turn this from fixed to fluid.

It'll be one of the themes that will always be available. Even if it doesn't become our main theme in the future, it'll still be an option to choose from.

I haven't had a chance to use the mobile theme yet. But it's the default one and until yesterday, I didn't even know that it came with a default mobile theme, I thought it was something I would have had to add.

I hope to add at least one more theme this week. Since 4.1.11 just came out a few days ago, I have to wait for the themes to catch up. But for now, everyone has two options.

The mobile theme works fine for me. I have a Samsung solstice 2 though. Maybe it is just messing up for iphones?

And I just found out that this IS the fluid theme...so the left and right space will exist forever.

vbulletin.org has a lot of them including this one, but I actually found this through Google but it can be found on vb.org as well.

Most themes aren't fit for 4.1.11 yet. A lot more should catch up within a week or so.

2 issues:
1: when i click insert image, the screen turns white and i cant really see anything.

2: the gif I tried it wad denied because of file size. thats bs.

A third issue.

3: Under cp when viewing the sub-forums says,

1. That issue is already acknowledged with the current theme, it sucks I know, but not much I can do until they update it.

2. I will try to find the file size limits for attachments, and I don't know if you can see it, but there are two tabs, one is from computer and the other is from URL, the URL one is like the old way where you put in the URL, and the image tag should still work. So if you upload the image to your album (or a third party image host) and use it like you normally would, it should be fine. Other than that, I will look at the attachment limit as well as a better/more compatible theme.

3. Issue also acknowledged earlier. It's something with the modification, the creators are already aware and I believe they are working on a fix.

I'm not liking the new style too much on my phone. Everything is close together and hard to press. Plus sometimes it won't load the whole page or will load the same post multiple times

The mobile theme is too stripped down and frustrating for me to use.
The dark theme has a few loading problems and its crowded. And the default theme is just horrible in general.

Yes, right now the mobile version probably sucks and yes there are a lot of kinks and bugs to be worked out still. But this is just the beginning. This upgrade brings many more possibilities than the version of vBul that the forum was once running on. The old Gamers-Forum version was years in the making. Just think of what this new version has to offer. I'm happy you've got this up and running LiNuX, do great things sir.

To people reporting bugs, if you're not good at explaining things make sure to take a screenshot as well. PRT SCREEN, OPEN PAINT, TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing Video Hosting (http://www.tinypic.com) and upload the image. And give reasoning behind your hatred toward something. Don't just say "THIS SUCKS." or "THIS IS HORRIBLE." Be like... "THIS SUCKS BECAUSE: EVERYTIME I LOG IN IT BRINGS ME TO A PAGE THAT SAYS ERROR X3049823-3423908" or whatever. Or explain why you don't like the colors / themes. Idk.

Sorry it's really late for me and I'm probably blabbering.

tl;dr:

New theme has potential. I'm liking it. Make constructive criticism and report bugs with screen shots / thoroughly.

Once again, props to you LiNuX for making the move. I know it probably sucks trying to get everything to work properly.

And Linux, yeah, I know we can't go back to the old one - I am just so used to it, I think ;-;

There are certain things about this one that bother me that I didn't notice before we chose one, but all in all, it works fine. Can't wait for some more to be updated so we can find some awesome, varied themes to suit different tastes!

When I tried to log on and typed the wrong information (damn you my various passwords) it redirected me to a page that gave me the message "Invalid Redirect URL". Not a big deal at all but just thought I'd share that info

The font color in threat titles and other input boxes should be fixed for DarkVision GF

I'm still working on fixing the colors for the popups for inserting image and videos. They've hidden it pretty well, I just have to dig a little deeper.

Sorry this took so long, they changed stuff on me and old methods of editing no longer work, I only discovered the new method today.
