View Full Version : PS1 Games on the PS3 EH?

I for some reason have only just discovered that PS1 games will play on my PS3 :S HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?! looks like star wars the phantom menace and tekken 2 tonight!

Hahaha, you were one of the ones lucky enough to get a backwards compatible Ps3 :P I dont think they all are? I had to re-buy a ps2 to play my ps2 games on cause my ps3 wouldnt play them :(

Wiki says all ps3's are backwards compatible with ps1 games. Pretty cool.

Ps3s can play Ps1 games but not Ps2 games. Also the Ps3 smooths out the textures slightly and makes your Ps1 games look a little nicer

*Some* Ps3's can play Ps2 games.... but it was just one run of them. I think the very first Ps3, the 80g one. Stupid that they just don't all >_<

It's easy to say that as a gamer, but when they took them out they were still losing 100+ dollars per ps3. The division was bleeding money hand over foot. The ps2 parts saved iirc 35 dollars. It's quite understandable.

The backwards compatible PS3s could only player certain PS2 games. The newer games I believe

Oh qq, I dont feel bad for Sony lol Screw them :P And if thats the case they should have released 2 versions, and charged a little more. Idda paid more fo sho
