HI! opinions please! best open world/free roaming game and why? thanks!

hi there people! im a huge fan of open world and free roaming games and want to know what others faves are and why? and what is it about open world/free roaming games that make them so good? for me personally is the ability to completely immerse yourself into the virtual world, as technology advances the constraints of these worlds become smaller and smaller allowing for the player to do almost whatever they desire. so what about you guys? i eagerly await your views!

Skyrim/RDR/Morrowind/Fallout. They are pretty awesome free-roam games, but I've been watching my fiance play Rage and that game seems pretty awesome as well.

ah yes, ive been playing thru oblivion, and cant wait till i can afford skyrim, it looks awesome! i played the demo of rage and it reminded me alot of borderlands which is also a great game, the two player story mode in particular made it for me, playing through it multiple times with my brother, and borderlands2 is coming out soon, cant wait! i think as long as the game im playing has a giant world for me to explore im happy (it helps if its visually stunning too) dont like being led thru a game too much.

Rage was actually pretty straightforward and not terribly sandboxy. I would try X3:Terran conflict. Great game

Skyrim is probably the best that I've played, though Red Dead Redemption is another open world game. I would recommend both of them!
