twilight was such garbage it goes to show that angsty teens are really the majority going to movies now'a days. Surprisingly hunger games was not awful. I'm not a fan of all the close up shaky camera angles but they followed the book pretty close.
Whats really amazing is that they got away with calling it a PG13 movie.

I watched it premier night, I thought it was okay. I read the book first, it followed it almost exactly. Left out a lot of details, but that always happens. Definitely one of the best books I read. I was also pretty surprised it got away as pg13. Lots of killings, and neck snapping.

I am thinking of watching it cause it looks interesting.
Here the movie minimum age is 11 years old, however there has been quite the debate about that. :p

It exceeded predictions. 155 first weekend, 3rd best behind The Dark Knight, and the deathly hallows part 2

Yea the the Movie was pretty good, I thought it would have been better with the R rating but I know they did for demographic purposes. But the things they changed were not too bad and I could understand why they did those changes.

I've heard good things about the movie but I never really planned on going (mostly because I barely have time to watch TV let alone find a couple hours to go the theater). I'll probably wait for the DVD or On Demand release. Never read the book either.

I'd go against what eggwhites says and read the book first if you're planning on reading it at all oO Otherwise, just watch the movie. But things probably make a lot more sense if you read the book first. You'll have to be a liiiittle disappointed with some changes they made, but that can't be helped in transcribing something from a book to a film.
We just went and saw it, and I thought they did a great job :) The movie will almost always be worse than the book, but I think they handled the task really well. The actress playing Katniss was a great choice. I cried a lot :|

I wish they would make a movie/show that followed a book exactly. Kinda like what they did with Stephen king's the stand. A bunch of 1 hours shows

How about no spoilers in this thread at all, guys. I'm removing all of them. If you want to talk about spoilers, make a thread called "The Hunger Games Discussion (Spoilers inside!)"
Not sure why there's no spoiler tag, but we'll have to work with it for now.
I liked the movie, but it did leave out a lot of details, and there's a kind of important detail that it messed up in the movie. Other that the one thing, it followed the story for the most part.
