Just got my ps3 from Ebay, I tried to put a game in it, the blue LED thing flashed 3 times but the game didn't go in. I forced it in and then did force eject and it came out, so the loading mechanism works. Is the laser busted? Im still waiting for the seller to respond.

That suuuuucks. Was it listed as working? At least with eBay you're protected and can get your money back if it was listed improperly.

it sounds like the loading mechanism *isn't* working if you had to force it in. Did you try to load another game in after that? Did it work just fine or did you have to force it in again?

Yes it was listed as working. He also mentioned that it came with all accessories, but I only got the console.

By loading mechanism I mean the phyiscal railing is working, it's not unaligned or something. As in it isn't going in because the playstation can't validate the disk... broken laser most likely.

You think I will get my money back? I emailed him yesterday, he hasen't answered yet. I have never had this happen to me, I will open a dispute tomorrow if he still doesn't answer.

Get you're money back asap, Ebay is nothing but a scam now.

Most def open a dispute and you should get your money back no problem. First of all it was listed with accessories, and wasn't that right there alone is enough for you to get your money back. And the fact that it was listed as working and isn't is the icing on the cake.

Keep in mind that eBay will go back through your messages with each other if they feel like they need to. They've done that to me before, which actually helped me win a dispute before.

I really don't know what to think... the guy even offered to refund 40$ and give me a free game because it took some time to get here. Then he came up with some **** story about the console being dropped in transit, thats why it took so long. I doubt dropping the console can break the laser and/or make the accessories dissepear...

Im going to wait until tomorrow JUST IN CASE he is legit and wants to fix things.

If I win the dispute, do I get all my money back? Do I still keep this 200$ paperweight?

Can the laser be fixed?

Here is exactly how it was listed:

"COMES WITH CABLES , CONTROLLER , CONSOLE AND A HDMI CABLE FOR HIGH DEFINITION , ITEM WILL BE SHIPPED WITHIN 48 HOURS , MUST BE PAID WITHIN 24 HOURS OR WILL BE RE-LISTED , I WILL NOT HOLD , PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BID , YES IT WORKS PERFECTLY , I KNOW YOUR GOING TO ASK ANY WAY SO I WILL SAY AGAIN YES IT WORKS PERFECTLY, PLEASE ONLY BID IF YOU PLAN TO PAY" (Yes with caps)

I just looked at his feedback, he has 3 negatives in the last week all saying they got a bad console... I think this is one of those guys that sends good stuff for like 2 months to build reputation then just scams people.

Wooow. You already won lol He claims it was ‘dropped in transit’ which is obviously a complete load of bs. Dropped in transit, aka “it doesn’t work and that’s my excuse”. First of all how would he even KNOW that? And secondly why would that make it take longer? That and his neg rep….. Yea, you’ll get all your money back. Give him til tomorrow to respond and then open a dispute.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you need to send it back.

if he has 3 negative feedback's in a week I'd go ahead and dispute it.

No, you wont need to I dont think.

Someone bought a broken phone from me. That was listed AS broken for parts. They opened a dispute and lost. I got my money back but they didnt need to return the item. Im not sure if policy has changed since then though?

He said they phoned him up.. he kept repeating the fact that it was dropped... he said "to set expecations"... dafuq? I should have seen it coming. Good thing you said they go thru the messages.

Yupp. Thank god they do lol They guy that bought my broke phone msg'd me before he bought it, telling me he thought he could repair it. Then msg'd me again after getting it to tell me that he couldnt and wanted his money back. I opened a dispute and it was literally settled within 2 mins lol

And if you get to keep the console you can attempt to fix it, strip it for parts or resell it for parts

thats profit right there and if they called them about dropping it shouldn't he contact you to say it was dropped... i think buyying stuff like that is always risky.

No answer yet... will wait 5 days and then turn into a claim. Does paypal have access to the ebay messages? Should I start an ebay dispute too?

Very 1st rule when ebaying is to always look at a sellers feedback and looks specifically for feedback from an item that is similar to what you are buying! Lots of bad feedback = don't even consider it! Mediocre feedback = as long as the person has sold items similar to what you are buying with a good outcome, should be fine... If not you are buyer protected (it is okay to take chances every once in a while). And of course someone with good feedback is your best bet!

Now as for shipping it back... You the buyer yes needs to ship it back, but only after you get your money back. Unless the seller has said he does not want it.

With a dispute you will go back and forth (if he is responding to his emails) just say I will ship it back after the money is redeposited in my account. If he comes back with I don't want it, then... You can go get it fixed and you have a free ps3! Some times sellers don't want items because it is to much of a hassle to go through this again. You may get lucky or the guy may be a complete douche. Anyways it can take up to a month, before you win. It depends on how involved he is. I haven't had to dispute something in a while, but it does happen... Last time I sold on ebay I had a buyer who was a complete (insert harsh female profane name here). Ebay sent my payment to the wrong paypal account, and she got lippy with me saying that it was the account linked to my user name which it clearly was not, I had to EMAIL ebay for them to change it. Anyways when I explained I was upset at what happened, she came back with a don't expect feedback from me and you shouldn't talk to your customers like that... I said "I am really upset that this happened..." I don't know how that calls for a "you shouldn't talk to your customers like that"? By that time it was to late I had already shipped the item, otherwise the (insert name again) would have gotten her money back and I would of relisted the item...

Anyhow enough of my rant... I wish you luck!

Case just closed today, they said I got the full refund but need to wait 5 days for the process! Also, the seller never even responded to either the dispute nor the claim, and they mentioned nothing in the email about sending it back.

I now have a "free" ps3. It's not really free, I had to pay 60$ to get it through customs, and have to pay about 150$ more to have it's laser fixed and buy the cables etc. But atleast the scammer didn't get my money!

I have to agree with everyone else. That is someone just trying to scam you. Just open a dispute and don't mess with it buy one from someone else.
