Hey guys, thought I'd get a proper Diablo III thread going, as I haven't seen an official one knocking about on the forum.
I thought we could do with talking about what we love about the game, what we like, and what we don't like; I know there's plenty of conversation there!
I've been playing as a monk, level 32, and last night I completed all four acts on Normal, so I'm now playing through Nightmare difficulty now. It's been immense.
I've been writing a review-in-progress for my website which you can see here (http://game-craic.com/2012/05/review-in-progress-diablo-iii/), and I'll be updating that when my experiences change. However, I'd like to start fresh on this thread and talk to you all about the game, so let's do it!

Don't have a lot of time to play this yet because of finals and stuff, but just got to act II. and omg the cut scenes are so amazing. Almost as good as Last Remnant cut scenes, definitely wish there was more of those.

The cut-scenes are movie-worthy. Like, they're so friggin' detailed it's unreal! If only they made a game with those visuals, and I had a PC to run that sort of quality, ha! I don't think anybody would have a PC to run that.

Will do!
Hehe, I'm on Act III on Nightmare difficulty. My monk is level 46 now. Had a lot of time with the weather being crap, and my girlfriend doing her final year of University exams! Diablo III has literally been one of the only things I've been tending to in the day, haha. RSI!

Blizzard are a joke man, an absolute joke. Why do we have to be online to play our own single-player games? They're a gang of tight arseholes. They've took their servers down because they're messing-up again, and people who don't always want to play with others in co-op suffer.

I think part of it is people cheating, and since you'll be able to actually make money off of this game, it's important to make sure people can't.
I can understand people wanting an offline option but I also understand Blizzard's reasoning.
For me it's not a huge thing but maybe that's because I'm used to mmo's and servers going down for upgrades and the like.
Also people just don't like change ;p

I beat on the game on normal with a friend last night, I used a wizard and I was confused like all game on how the damage works. Am I supposed to build items that have the most intellect, or go for the ones that give me the most Damage?

For a Wizard I would suggest you stack Intellect (because that's where you get your damage from), and stack Vitality wherever you can, because you desperately need it in Nightmare as you progress through the Acts, especially Act II and beyond.

Of course I understand why they've done it, but I just wish they would make it a part of the game where it's completely separate from any of the online content. In general, I guess it would be easily done, if they put a little time aside for it. Everybody would be happy then.
I'm used to the servers going down and stuff, with me being a WoW player in the past, and the fact that Blizz used to always balls things up in vanilla WoW, but this past week has been awful :( but I remember the launch of WoW being kind-of worse.

I can't play it on my computer (lucky me I have access to other comps). I think blizzard has done a truly excellent job, but the game seems far too easy so far. Also I still have a little problem with the art style. I feel as though its not quite dark enough

Funnily enough, our website featured a mod for D3 on Monday, which makes the game darker, because many others also had this complaint. Just follow this link (http://game-craic.com/2012/05/mod-monday-darker-d3/) to the site, and all the details are there :)
To address your opinion about the difficulty so far, you'll be pleased to know that it gets a lot harder, especially in Hell-mode, which I'm currently playing through. It's ridiculous at times. But I do agree that it's too easy to start with. I didn't have a problem with the mobs being easy on Normal-mode, but the bosses were pushovers. Meh.

Thinking back to D2 the difficulty hasn't seemed to change, so that's good (:
Nice mod find Jay! Will probably get it lol, I don't have much problem with the look of the game but hey, why not try it out, I might like it better.

Haha the darker D3 mod literally just turns the brightness down :p. I gotta say that the demon hunter is super fun. After learning that I had unlocked the elemental arrow ability its the most fun thing since.... bola shot!

Ha, essentially yes, but instead of decreasing the brightness of your display, it just tones down the hue of the colours.
Yep, Deamon Hunter is fun indeed. After going 54 levels with my Monk, getting to Hell difficulty, I wanted a change of pace. Now, I'm happy that I don't have to do close-range dps any more. Win.

Well nothing brings out my inner hardcore mode like some Diablo:
http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/5360/lvl60f.png
I am thinking I will make a review/guide explaining the damage algorithm, along with some other things people seem to be confused on. a quick explanation:
-Flat damage one weapons (ruby in slots)
-Main stat line + Vit for armor
-Attack speed\flat damage rings and ammys
-biggest amethyst you have on a helmet slot
-offhand varies by class
wizard and witch doctor are int.
war is strength
demon hunter is dex
monk I have seen played a few ways, I will have to decide after I have played one.
Once you are out of lowbie hell you wan to stack gear with as much of every stat as you can get. I still have pre lvl 60 gear on my charter as I just hit 60 today. So I am all damage. For hell and inferno mode you need int for resistances, strength for physical reduction, dex for dodge and vit to avoid death. The only time you can get away with ignoring being well rounded is up till the end of nightmare.

Nice man, your Demon Hunter looks badass.
As for a Monk, Dex and Vit need to be stacked, along with the resistance of your choice.

As demon hunter I usually stack Dex and vitality. Plus I never really get hit, although I have noticed recently that many people, most notable witch doctors, put out tons more damage than me

Don't forget about their minions duder, so they will do more damage than a lot of people because they have help! ;)

I've put forward a possible solution in your thread for this issue. Don't know if it will work, but it certainly helps with frame-rate issues.
