View Full Version : Goku vs Superman....

My friends and I were debating on who was the best superhero and one of my friends stated that he thought Goku was. After argueing that Goku wasn't even a superhero he brought up the point that Goku would destroy Superman in a fight. I found this intriguing to think about and I was wanting to know what you guys thought of it. Personally, I absolutely HATE Superman so I'm pretty biased to the star of the greatest anime of all time.

I thought he could go up to 6 or something? If I remember right lol.
Goku would destroy Superman. Although it'd take 3 seasons and a movie...
....that's just for the spirit bomb to finish Superman off, let alone the rest of the fight.

According to the manga and anime the highest was SSJ 4.
But yeah, Goku would destroy him, wouldn't even be fair.

I heart Superman. He's dreamy.... But really, you guys all think Goku would win super easily? Like really? lol What's Goku got that could beat Superman.... his energy blasts? You guys realize Superman has literally survived a star going supernova right next to him, and came out with just a little scratch right? :P Superman has super speed, strength, breath, hearing, vision (and xray vision), heat vision and he flies. Not to mention unlimited stamina AND endurance and he basically invulnerable to everything.... unless Goku found some Kryptonite xD

I'm thinking it'd be fair game until this, xD but Goku doesn't have a weakness really aside from exhaustion. Even then, senzu beans!

This exactly.
I'd be rooting for Goku, but I doubt he'd stand a chance. Bryce mentioned the Spirit Bomb finishing Superman off, but as you said he's invulnerable to everything and survived a friggin supernova, the spirit bomb wouldn't do ****.
You guys are talking about Goku at his strongest, so if he was pit against Superman's most powerful variation he'd be up against a dude that can move planets, fly so fast he can travel through time, "see across interstellar distances and observe events that occurred on a microscopic and even atomic level", and his heat vision is so hot it's immeasurable.

I think so, in the anime it was mentioned that goku could destroy the sun just as a SSJ 1. Broly the legendary SSJ, was said to be able to blow up whole galaxies with one blast. Goku was able to beat as a SSJ 2. I feel that as SSJ 4 goku could blow up the whole universe.

That's why I said senzu beans! Little beans he eats to go back up to 100% stamina, no fatigue, etc etc.
I think it'd just be a never ending battle. Unless Goku whipped out dragon balls, and told Shenron "I wish he was dead". Or black Dragon Balls, then the planet they're on is destroyed. Goku can interstellar travel, I dunno if Superman can?
I'm gonna keep rooting Goku, I've never been a big Superman fan lol.
Goku's only defeated two enemies by himself, one of them required him to go ssj4.
Superman probably would honest.

The thing about superman is that it makes zero sense. How can a sneeze blow up a whole universe, but him just talking or yelling do nothing. It's hard to argue against something that has no logic or rhythm.

Superman is the cheapest superhero ever created, which is why he'd beat Goku, and is also the biggest reason for me not being much of a Supes fan.

Sneezes are generally uncontrollable, when you've got one coming there's no telling how big it's gonna be or how much **** you're going to spit across the room.. But are you not able to control the level of your own voice? Assuming Superman is able to produce destructive sound waves with his voice, he'd probably be able to control when he did such a thing. I showed him tugging a row of planets, doesn't mean every time he opens a door he's gonna rip it off its hinges.

I agree with you there, they just gave him every super power in the world and basically immune to everything. Except for some reason his enemies are just normal humans, which never made any sense. Superman should be able to take them down so easily, a huge and annoying flaw to superman IMO.

I suppose if you look at it like that.
I say since superman is dumb and his powers are impossibly strong f him, goku wins
GG, Superman is noob.

08-06-2012, 12:08 AM
So if all of Superman's powers come from the yellow sun of the Earth, then doesn't Goku just have to blow up the sun then instant transmission away and leave Superman to freeze to death? GG Goku wins
Mizel
08-06-2012, 08:07 AM
His powers aren't directly connected to the yellow sun as in, if the sun explodes his powers are gone instantaneously... but they will wain over time. So if he can beat Goku down before his powers eventually diminish (which he totally would) then he'd be ok :P Or, he could just fly to another yellow sun in another galaxy in a matter of seconds and recharge himself.
Trunks
08-06-2012, 10:34 AM
Actually he wouldn't be able to travel to another galaxy in a matter of seconds. The nearest star is like 16 light years away and it's impossible to travel faster than the speed of light.
Mizel
08-06-2012, 10:39 AM
..... since when do comics follow the laws of nature?? LOL It's also impossible to have... ANY of the powers any superhero has in any comic?
In the comic universe, he would be able to:

Trunks
08-06-2012, 10:48 AM
All of them follow of laws of nature, they all follow gravity and newtons 3 laws. Anyway, if were debating super powers, then you have to believe that they would exist, if not then there is nothing to debate about.
Since it would take superman 16 years to fly to another galaxy, and takes goku seconds because of a technique that was created in the show I think this turns the tides of the fight. Goku destroys the sun then leaves to another nice planet to live on. Chills for a few years, then goes and finds superman and boom, supermans done. Goku wouldn't even have to try.
Mizel
08-06-2012, 10:52 AM
It wouldn't take him that long... look at the comic frame I just posted. He flew to another solar system before he even got a sneeze out... So, unless it takes him 16 years to sneeze... and not, ya know, 5 seconds... then that's all the time he would need to fly out and back- the time it takes someone to sneeze.
Trunks
08-06-2012, 10:56 AM
Well, does he have some type of ability that allows him to transport or is it just flying really fast? If he has nothing that allows him to transport then it's impossible, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.
Superman is the only hero that has powers that make zero sense, he's got to follow the rules of the universe too.
Mizel
08-06-2012, 11:04 AM
He's not the only suerphero that can, so can Lanterns, and Flash, etc etc... They can all get to other solar systems in seconds. Also, it's fiction lol Where exactly does it state that superheroes can't do this or can't do that? Is it following the rules of the universe when Wolverine get's Adamantium injected into his body to replace his bones? Or when a Lantern takes a ring and use their minds to project power from it in any form they want? Or when Alex Holland turns into Swamp Thing? Or when Superboy/Capt America is created in a lab? Or how Thor has a magic hammer and falls to Earth unharmed after he is banished?

I've never heard of flash flying through space lol, flash can't even fly and from what I remember flash runs near the speed of light, not faster. Green Lantern, the rings give them power, don't know a lot about either of them really so I can't make a good comment.
Again, it's a comic book world so have to think like injecting adamantium into a body will work. Same with the rings, whatever they put into Captain America and thor is an actual god, if anyone would be able to fly faster than the speed of light it would be him. The thing is, they all have a plausible way of obtaining powers and none of their powers break the laws of physics. They have a way of explaining them that aren't far fetched and can be believable.
xLykos

Pretty sure a god would over power a superhero, since no one (not even Hulk) can lift Thor's hammer.
Mizel
08-06-2012, 11:19 AM
Yea... again, it's a comic book lol Just because they have ways to explain things so that they aren't so far fetched, doesn't mean that have to. Like I said, DC has never been bound to the fastest thing being light. Because of that simple fact, I'm sort of confused as to why we're still debating lol Even in the DC Universe online game, they have abilities called FTL abilities...
Trunks
08-06-2012, 11:30 AM
I'm assuming FTL means faster than light?
Anyway, I think for me and a lot of people I know, for it to actually have a possibility to be true in real life makes it a lot better to watch. That reason for them getting the power and how it works being explain gives it authenticity. Just from the recent movies, Spiderman gets bit by genetically altered spider. The venom from the spider genetically mutates his DNA and gives him powers. All completely plausible. Batman was trained by the league of shadows, best hand to hand combat group in the world. Plus a lot of his stuff came from his company that made all the weapons and tank things.
For me and all my friends, we've had a conversation like this before, the power being explained how it works and how he got it is what makes or break the movie.
I don't read comics at all, never read one if my life actually, always wanted too, but never got around to them. The whole debate is about Goku vs Superman, since DBZ isn't a comic it still makes me comments valid. I'm still debating this because I'm bored and I know goku would kick his butt, not sure why you are haha.
Mizel
08-06-2012, 11:33 AM
Oh, Im cool arguing Goku versus Superman LOL But arguing that Superman can't go fast then light (yes, FTL) when he *can* is what I'm confused about :P I get why you like it when comics try to describe things through real life.... but I don't necessarily need that to enjoy a comic. Also, as funny as it is... the comics that related most to real life (Capt America, Spiderman, etc) are the ones I tend to dislike the most.
Also squared... you should tots get into reading if you've always wanted to. They're amazing :)

I hate the idea of the DBZ characters being able to destroy planets with ease. I give it to Superman because, while I always thought he was too OP of a super hero....the characters in DBZ take OP to a whole new level.
Trunks
08-06-2012, 11:46 AM
Well... really he can't because it's impossible, but yeah.
I'm the opposite of you, heroes that don't relate to real life events or aren't explained are really annoying to me. I don't think I'd enjoy comics, it's just I always thought it'd be interesting.
@Epsilon Well that fact that the villains DBZ are just as strong as the heroes. They're only OP if you take them out of the DBZ universe, but that fact that you think they're more OP then than superman means that he's stronger.
Mizel

Also, just to clarify... Thor from the comics, isn't a "God". He is a superhero from the magical realm of Asgard who is worshipped as a god, but is not one. Which is explained in the comics and the movie.
He also fought Superman in the comics... and lost.
Just wanted to point those things out ;)

I am going to say Goku cause Superman would never kill him because Goku is not evil. Even if Superman beats him bad Goku will heal and than gain added strength. So eventually he would be stronger. But it does not matter cause neither would kill each other

Well superman probably beat him by using one of his abilities that make zero sense. Also I'm pretty sure in the movie if varies he's a god or at least a demi god, both in Thor and The Avengers. I mean the title post of the movie was The God of Thunder; Thor. Thor's dad is Odin which is a definite god, buy he had a mortal wife and that makes Thor a demi-god. It's Norse Mythology, lol you can't argue against it.

I'm not arguing against OUR mythology in OUR universe, in our reality. Im not sure what you guys aren't understanding about the difference between OUR universe and the comic book world universe lol They are different, you realize this, right? >_< Yes, in our universe, in reality... ya know, the real world, no the comic world.... "Thor" and "Odin" are Gods. If you read the comics, they explain in detail that in the comic universe, they are not literal "Gods" but just worshiped by some as such.
Trunks
08-14-2012, 05:06 PM
Comics are lame, I just go from the movies I watch and in the avengers movie and even the Thor movie they call him a god. So if you're calling him a god the movies must not be based of the comics. Also DBZ is not apart of the comic book universe either. So you point is invalid in my eyes.
CraeSC111
08-15-2012, 09:13 PM
I would like to point out that since the comic books have been around for longer and build onto the lore more than the movies then it would make a lot more sense to look at the Thor comics. And since dragon ball exist in this universe either it wouldn't really make sense to apply that standard to Thor
Trunks
08-15-2012, 09:25 PM
That's true, but I'm not a huge fan of comic books, so many contradictions in the writing, at least the movies all follow a decent script. Well there is a thor in "this" universe, so it would make more sense to "apply" it to that "standard" or whatever you're talking about lol, the threads about superman anyway, no one is comparing thor and DBZ. I was just saying how DBZ isn't apart of the comic book universe so we shouldn't have to follow that standard.
