What programs could I use on Windows or Mac to record gameplay of some games?

Fraps is a great software, it's not free though.

WeGame is a great alternative, I have tried it and it's pretty good so you might want to give that a try. Not sure if either works on Mac (not a mac guy).

Fraps is the best, however as Linux mentioned its not free. For the free version you can only do 20 second cuts or something. Wegame is probably the next best however I (personally) had some problems with it. Game cam is also free and I think you can do as long films as you want however it doesnt record sounds.

There is a free version of FRAPS here Download Fraps 3.5.9 free version (http://www.fraps.com/download.php) but the only problem is that it has a bright yellow FRAPS in the corner of the recording, and like mentioned above it only clips 20 second videos. However, i took about 30 of those clips and put them together with windows movie maker then added a song ... it was a little cheesy but not bad.

You can also get a video card for your computer and record PC or console games through it.
