So the world didn't end on Dec 21st, so I guess Happy New Year!

I know it's a bit early for the US, but our friends in the far east have already hit 2013.

I would like to thank everyone for getting through another Year with Gamers Forum. I know it's been slow the past few months but hopefully, 2013 is better for everyone. Occasionally, I post some stats about the forum for fun, to celebrate the end of 2012, here are some fun stats:

In 2012:

1. Gamers Forum has received 22.6 million pageviews (nothing compared to big websites but still better than at least half of the websites on the internet), it's up from 17.7 million in 2011.

2. Top 3 visiting countries are now the United States, China, and Ukraine (I'm guessing that's where all of our spammers are coming from).

3. 95% of our visitors use a PC, 2% Linux, 1.7% macs

4. Google Chrome has become the number 1 browser for our gamers!! It overtook Firefox and IE this year.

5. Internet Exploder dropped to the number 4 browser (it was first place last year). First place is Chrome, then Firefox, then Opera, then the exploder.

6. "Gamers Forum" is still the number 1 search term that brings users to us. This is followed by "wtf is minecraft" which links to Epsilon's thread here: Wtf is minecraft? (http://www.gamers-forum.com/showthread.php?17002-Wtf-is-minecraft)

7. Google is still our best friend in terms of sending us traffic, followed by Bing, and then Yahoo.

8. 7600 Accounts were created in 2012, unfortunately a majority of them are spam.

9. Roughly 30,000 new posts this year (very slow year :() Let's pick this up in 2013!

Happy New Year everyone!

22 million pageviews but only 30k posts. So many spammers to boost pageview count. Maybe I shall go back to creating lots of threads

I honestly don't understand why Spammers come to forums? Does it really help them in any way?

Linux.. You need to figure how to turn the pageviews into $$$

Yea, but does that EVER really work? Lol I mean most forums remove the post within a very short amount of time.... just sounds counterproductive >_<

Also, that was a very good example lmao

Yeah I know, I'd be so much happier.

Might try to figure something out to see how it can benefit us.

I wish we could have more interesting topics. Over the years all the games faqs type topics have rub me the wrong way. You may be like jak what are you talking about. The whole like. OMG SO WHAT IS BETTER HALO OR COD type. We'd prob get more users if we had active official topics but that takes members to start them off...ect

I try to make new topics when I have something interesting to talk about. But even so... if no one's replying, it's pointless :/

Every forum I used to frequent seems to have seen a substantial decline in activity; Bought a recording studio for myself for Christmas, felt like dropping in on a music site I used to visit and the place is a ghost town, just last year the place was bursting with activity.. Makes me wonder if forums in general are losing steam.

I think they are, with sites like reddit making a huge splash.

My New Years Resolution is to come here every day (when possible) and post more. I miss this place :/

The clock just turned here, once again, Happy New Year! For some reason, this year already feels better than the last, probably because I'm not unemployed like I was last new years.

Good to see you back! My New Years Resolution is to do more with the Forum, the past year has been extremely busy and I haven't had the chance to do 90% of what I wanted to do. I remember it was a pain to find the time to actually upgrade the forum to vB4.
