Poking around the internet, cant believe they intend on making another. Last Mad Max was made in 1985 and this is targeted for sometime in 2014, quite a dead period to reviving the franchise.

This isnt exactly a remake, but idk making a 100 million budget movie that went over budget in a franchise dead since the mid 80s sounds like poor planning. If anything should of been a 25-40 million budget movie

I've never seen any of the originals or anything, but post apocalyptic movies are big hits right now. I could see this movie doing pretty well.
