I know I come here often requesting help, though these are forums not a help desk (heh) I appologize, I'll try and be on more often, and maintain activity; I just have a lot going on in my life right now. Here are the games I tried to download:
Black Shot
Blacklight Retribution
America's Army 3

Games I want to download:
Age of Conan
Edem Eterma;
Born to Fire

Games I Have:
Halo CE
Need for Speed World
Star Wars the Old Republic (sort-of)
World of Warcraft (Rarely played)
Minecraft

The Games I tried to download ALL failed, and I did allow them to complete updates and install and all that, but it didn't matte; none of them worked. Why?

Where are you downloading them from?

And since you have Windows 8, you should know that there are a lot of issues with that OS so that might be the problem. I can't confirm since I haven't upgraded to that yet.

There can be lots of things,

have you checked the firewall?
is your connection steady?
Does any of the games work with windows 8?

Through early tests general Windows 7 Apps work on Windows 8, I thought I had a steady connection but it can -very rarely mind you- be a little annoying when it comes to maintaining connection. I downloaded from the official source.

According to this post on the steam community website:

The game America's Army 3 has compatibility problems. There is a proposed fix in the thread so you might want to try that with all of the games you can't get to work

I had a few issues with games not installing as well. After you download the game, there should be an option to install in compatibility mode with windows 7 or just right click, go to properties and click the compatibility mode tab.. If the game installs, make sure you also change the compatibility mode for the .exe file for windows 7 before you play.

If you still can't install it, chances are the game is not compatible with windows 8, just have to hope for an update. It's always a good idea to check the forums for each of the games to see if anyone has made a mod for it to run on windows 8. Good luck to you.

To be fair, I couldn't get Blacklight Retribution running on Windows 7 either. Lots of problems kept popping up, but they *are* worse now that I'm on Windows 8. It is still a new OS and there's always functionality bugs for the first little while, like there was with 7. Might not be able to play the games for a while, but you will be able to soon.
